Tigercraft Aquabot V1 Build / Discussion

I don't know the history of this hull, if It was put together by Tigercraft. or purchased as a top and bottom deck and assembled. I found a few quality issues that make me think the latter. So im Looking for input on these V1 hulls.

It's finished and on the water.
And It is a super fun hull!
Very nimble, and for being short and aggressively rockerd it rides really flat. Not nose high like i thought it might.

Overall i feel the layup quality is good. Tolerances for the motor mounts to the bilkhead / mid shaft mount are off a bit. About 4.5mm or 3/16. Enough that if it pressed the mid shaft into the housing 22mm to 23mm i had just enough clearance between the coupler but..... the splines bottomed out.

I ended up pressing the midshaft to 19mm and taking the coupler to work and milling 4mm off the back of it. Witch gave me the proper clearances between the couplers and midshaft to drive shaft splines. It was either that or trim down the drive shaft and I'd rather keep the driveshaft oem length.

You can also add a washer behind the coupler so milling some off was deff the way to go!

Just bought a V1 that's been passed around my area for some time. In need of some love, so ill be building it up this winter. First AM hull too. Bought it as a turn key mostly stock 760 build and rode it once to get an idea of how it rides and what it needs. What motor setup do you have in yours?

Very simple. Very mildly ported 61X 701, single 44 carb, ADA head with 33cc domes. And unfortunately, a stock pipe. OEM 144 pump, stubby cone and a Skat swirl 11-17. Witch is to much for the motor but i got the pump and prop with the hull and the previous owner had a 850 motor in it.

The aluminum inserts came loose. They are tapered so there larger at the bottom and smaller at the top, and the center hole is recessed. The glass work around them seems good but the epoxy that was used to fill in the hollow center was odd. Almost looked like JB weld. They where definitely not coming out but needed to be addressed.

I ground out the old epoxy, roughed up the aluminum and the glass under the mount with a die grinder and back filled the mounts with G-flex. Thought about laying glass over them but i didn't want to mess with modifying my motor mounts to make up the height difference. So far there holding up good!

Mine had a oem pump shoe. Which was cracked. So it got replaced with a Blowsion aluminum shoe.

It fit ok, But not great. I know the blowsion one's aren't the best but i thought i give it a shot. The oem shoe had a couple small washers between the shoe and hull. I ended up making aluminum shims at work. I made them wide enough i could epoxy them to the shoe, then trim them to the profile of the flange. They ended up being 2.5mm at the top and 0 at the bottom to get the shoe aligned to the pump and midshaft correctly.

Also had to relocate the cooling line boss on the pump. It interfered with the steering cable badly. I tried flipping the stator 180 but that gave me other problems. The plan is to put a 144 mag pump in it, hopefully soon!!
