Good Morning-

I am currently in the process of building my first aftermarket hull and am very excited! I purchased a slightly used (10 mos. old) 2015 TigerCraft SV-1 from a friend and am changing out all of my old SN SJ parts and trying to do the best I can to build up a decent surf and boat chasing ski. I am going to post my progress with comments and pics. If anyone has some helpful input or suggestions I would be grateful to hear them. I just waiting on hopefully my last order from Jet Maniac for the missing parts that I just found out I would need. With any luck I will have this beast in the water soon!

At the moment I have the motor, pump and midshaft installed. I it a bit of a snag with the mounting configuration of the waterbox, e box, and gas tank. The previous owner ran a different setup and had it built to suit his needs. So I will need to glass in some new mounts to accommodate the new changes I will be making.

Here are some pics....[/ATTACH] IMG_2956.JPG IMG_2943.JPG

The motor was intended to be upgraded from a 61X single to a dual carb 62T. Upon removal of the top end I found that my pistons were basically done and needed to be replaced. This left me with some decisions to make. New pistons and sleeves? Or rebuild and port the entire top end. I choose the later.......Here is some of what I did....IMG_2440.JPG IMG_2442.JPG IMG_2527.JPG

The next hurdle I needed to cross was how to connect to motor to my pump. I new I need a different mid shaft due to the upgraded hull. So I opted to purchase a Rebuilt OEM housing with a aftermarket shaft to save a few bucks. Another JM special. Getting the new mid shaft and pump aligned was crucial but not to difficult using the cold fusion alignment tool and having a buddy for a spotter to make on the fly adjustment to get a perfect fit. The only difficulty was that the TigerCraft shaft was a bit on the small side and the cold fusion tool would not slide all the way inside it due to a wider outside diameter of the tool. But I was still able to square it up and achieve proper alignment with a bit of critical thinking...IMG_2827.JPG IMG_3099.JPG

I needed to change out the existing pump shoe because the motor and pump being used before was bigger and I was not able to acquire a 155 mag and a 1100 cc motor by the time of this build..HAHAHA So I will be running a 144 Solas mag. This required a new 144 shoe. Aluminum from Blowsion. here is the fit and process....I did not come out as clean as I would have hoped for. I ended up doing a second seal so I did not have a shelf of sealant. The first time around i used blue tape to clean up the edges. This left the seal higher than the pump tunnel which I did not feel was right. so I cleaned it up. Peeled the tape off and set a new bead down and made it flush with the tunnel. now once dried it feels smooth and should work just fine. Not the prettiest but should work.IMG_2967.JPG IMG_2968.JPG IMG_2970.JPG IMG_2987.JPG IMG_2991.JPG IMG_2992.JPG

Next at hand was the rebuilding of the Mag pump. I did the oven freezer method as described by PWC today on the how to section of thier website. Found it to be very informative and everything worked out extremely well. Herdest part of the task was removing my old prop off the drive shaft. I destroyed the Skat Trak tool! And snapped a bench vice in the process! I used the Mystik marine grease and was very happy with the results! Gomez would be proud! LOLIMG_3068.JPG IMG_3070.JPG IMG_3072.JPG IMG_3075.JPG

With all that in order, my next task was to install my new bored reduction nozzle, prop sleeve and pump. This is a bit out of order, ....I had to rebuild the pump and install the entire housing before I could align my shaft and install the mid shaft......but you get the idea.IMG_3082.JPG IMG_3092.JPG IMG_3098.JPG IMG_3101.JPG

The new pump shoe did not come with holes taped to mount the intake grate....so this was next in line to be done...IMG_3106.JPG

Then I decided I would need a fresh coat of paint on some old items to freshen them up for their new home..Flywheel cover, motor mounts, b pipe, and water box.IMG_3135.JPG IMG_3128.JPG IMG_3145.JPG IMG_3146.JPG

I have officially hit a stopping point until my next order arrives. I cannot go any further without proper hull mounts. In the meantime. I need to rebuild my carbs, fit the new pole and bracket, and install the electrical system and controls.....IMG_3148.JPG

Nice ski! I just put my SV-1 together so feel free to ask me any questions if you need any help. I mounted my ebox flat above the front foothold and I think it worked out pretty good. My build thread has photos of it.

Got My Pole! Pretty freakin stoked! I am having a few issues getting the spring installed correctly. I think its due to the fact I am running a aftermarket spring and its super strong. At first when I installed it the damn thing would not go down! So as of now I removed a coil from the spring and treated the entire spring with heat. I just fit it up and it feels well for just being on the work table. Once the new paint dries I will install it and see just how she feels with all the components installed......I really hope I don't need to resort to a stock spring and go another round with this one!IMG_3194.JPG IMG_3196.JPG IMG_3197.JPG IMG_3210.JPG IMG_3217.JPG IMG_3219.JPG IMG_3222.JPG IMG_3223.JPG

Just personal prefrence, but i had a hella of a time with a pole spring last year and decided to ditch it all together. I wont ever go back to running a spring. Maybe worth a try.
