Yeah I was super bummed to miss the ride with the crew. I just got my last bit of parts and am in the process of glassing in the new mounts soon. With any luck we will all be out ripping every weekend!

Good Morning-

I am currently in the process of building my first aftermarket hull and am very excited! I purchased a slightly used (10 mos. old) 2015 TigerCraft SV-1 from a friend and am changing out all of my old SN SJ parts and trying to do the best I can to build up a decent surf and boat chasing ski. I am going to post my progress with comments and pics. If anyone has some helpful input or suggestions I would be grateful to hear them. I just waiting on hopefully my last order from Jet Maniac for the missing parts that I just found out I would need. With any luck I will have this beast in the water soon!

At the moment I have the motor, pump and midshaft installed. I it a bit of a snag with the mounting configuration of the waterbox, e box, and gas tank. The previous owner ran a different setup and had it built to suit his needs. So I will need to glass in some new mounts to accommodate the new changes I will be making.

Here are some pics....[/ATTACH] View attachment 305980 View attachment 305981

Ive ridden this ski at Surf Slam, Cuong's old ski. loved the way it rode. I like a shorter hull though and ordered a aquabot v2 right afterwards. Good luck with your build, looks like you are well on your way.

Today I glassed and epoxied in some hull mounts and began rebuilding the carbs.......The guy I bought the carbs from must have spray painted them. As soon as I hit them with carb cleaner the paint came right off.....What a dill hole! Guess I will be taking them to the bead blaster and possibly to get anodized after....we shall see how it goes with the ole time vs. money vs. how bad I want to ride the new build! After finishing the new glass work for the new mounts I installed. I started to rebuild the carburetors. I thought this would be a quick task which soon turned ugly.......I purchased some used carbs off Ebay and did not really know the seller or the history of the carbs. But they were cheap and I guess I got what I had paid for. Unfortunately......So they were in pretty bad shape. Covered in grease, and completely gummed up and in need of a full rebuild. So as I started the tear down I hit a snag and had on of the interior screw heads strip out on me. I was able to extract it and find a replacement screw. Then I stared to clean them and hit them with carb cleaner......the paint that was on them just melted off! So now I was in a situation where I was not sure if I should do a full strip and clean of the exteriors or just leave them be? I choose to strip them down and do some refurbishing.IMG_3609.JPG IMG_3608.JPG IMG_3538.JPG IMG_3613.JPG

During the finishing phase I finally got her built up, and hit a brick wall........I could get the motor to turn and could prove gas, compression, and spark but couls not get it to start. I later found I had a shorted circuit in my ebox and was taking down my CDI. I ended up replacing some parts in the duration because I had worked some overtime and had some extra cash I purchased some goodies I thought would have to come much later. I installed a new lightened flywheel and a set of V force two reeds and cages, as well new electronics, coil, starter relay, CDI, and voltage regulator.IMG_3646.JPG IMG_3647.JPG IMG_3648.JPG IMG_3652.JPG IMG_3653.JPG IMG_3654.JPG

Finally was able to get her out on the water and do the real testing! Ended up encountering a few more problems......all rookie builder mistakes. Nothing to major. But was finally down to the carb tuning, set up, and minor tweaks. I rebuilt my carbs with the pop off arm on top the needle and seat and caused a fuel restriction and as well I needed to change my pop off presure, I did not include the spacer washer in the hand pole and it came apart on me. I blew off my pipe cooling line from most likely not being tight enough. Found my flow control valve was closed and I forgot to seal my trim tube. The bilge hose was a still missing a needed coupling and I didn't lock tight my turn nozzle and blew it apart. All rookie learning mistakes and all were fixed. After some new parts and a few curse words I have been back out on the water still tuning and tweaking. Overall the ski is amazing and does things I could never accomplish on my superjet! Very stable at speed. Handles like a champ. And is super reactive to free style riding. The only thing that it cannot do is rail corners like a race ski. Which is not what it is built for! But she does chase down a a boat real well!IMG_3678.JPG IMG_3721.JPG IMG_3682.JPG
