Tigercraft sv 1 pole install issue

So I'm putting a kp pole on a sv 1.

Bracket on ski has inside diameter of 2.5 in.

Pole tubes are a cunt hair over 2 in inside diameter.

Provided hose is 2 in.

So the hose fits up in the pole tubes nicely but is a hotdog down a hallway in the bracket. What gives?

Do pole companys have different size tubes?

The original bracket on this ski was an oval with some hacked up tubes which let a ton of water in. The whole point of this is to get it tight to keep water out.

My freak is like that. Use to have an rrp pole originally. Came with a metal when I got it. Think the rep may be 2.5.

Did you do anything to correct it. I could rig it to make it tight but I want this poop clean.

When you drill the holes you make them fit the air tubes OD, not the pole bracket.

sleeve it through another piece of rubber tube so it fits your holes that are too large

O boy, I was afraid of that. Why in hell do they make it like that.

I got the boat from the fiberglass guy that painted it... He pulled the old bracket off and installed the new one and cut holes to match.

Sleeving it is last resort.

Looks like I'm pulling the bracket off and going to install a plate between bracket and hull that I can make the right size holes in. Ain't no damn jalopy sleeved rigged up am hull leaving my garage... This poor hull was Jack enough by the last guy. I know who you are!

Check out KP's pole bracket, it has spigots you attach hose to on top and bottom for a completely sealed install.

Ya I have some 1/8 in aluminum that I'm gonna make a plate out of. Just sucks to work behind someone that makes your job harder. Really under quoted this job...

Man, they have the right idea there. Even when they are snug, it's still not water tight. Unfortunately the customer isn't gonna go for buying a new bracket when he just bought this one. I'm sure neither are cheap.

Dont use metal, use a piece of rubber like rubber roofing material thats about 1/16th thick. Make a "gasket" out of that that goes between hull and pole bracket . Then cut tube holes in the rubber smaller than the tube. Rubber "gasket" seals against the tube. No more water ingestion ...... you heard it here first. I do this to all the hulls I build.

Kind of like the idea of being able to deal with the topside bullsh*t independent of the interior battle. A simple copy would be to fab up a backing plate with 2 short pieces of tube welded in the holes then it wouldn't matter what size holes were cut in the fiberglass. I wound making a stainless backing plate for my Aura bracket and was considering this:

You took a daunting problem and made it something I don't mind doing because it's going to be better than the hose fitting tight in the bracket in the first place.

Ya that bracket is nice!

I ended up using some thick rubber, close to 1/4, as a gasket with the holes undercut so the tubes where tight. And they are tight, I could pick up the empty hull with them.
