Super Jet timing a new stator plate

I have a spare stator and coils that i would like to use as a spare. Normally, I just line up the timing marks and go. Obviously the new stator will not have calibrated marks.

How does a new stator plate get aligned.

I'm bringing this back up top as I just put in a new stator as well. There are no markings on it so not sure where to start for alignment. Anyone?

Is this an OE plate or one of those Chinese ones on Ebay?

Oem plate. I think I've seen pics I the 62t plate and it looked like it was pretty much centered up

There are timing marks on the case and on the stator plate, just line them up. They are on the intake side near the stator wiring harness area.

I bought one off ebay, cheap new aftermarket and found the same thing "no chiseled timing mark". Decided I would lay the new one over the old one back to back or on top one one another and transfer the mark. When attempted this I found the new mark, it's not a chiseled mark but a laser etched faint line, it's there just hard to see and looks different. I did re-chisel the etched line once I found it so it's more user friendly

For other situations I've don't this measurement of the old stator to set the new one, came up with 6mm

I have seen some WSM plates that have no timing mark. Get what you pay for sometimes. If you have no mark, chances are very high that it isn't OEM.

Problem with mine is that the boss with the arrow on it on the case was sheared off. Excellent!!

Just center the plate up. That should be neutral.

I would confirm timing with a light afterword if your running any decent compression with modified or aftermarket head

Since the stator mounting plate cap screws are not centered in their respective adjustment slots when at TDC I wondered how many degrees of timing advance this would creat. I measured 2mm's of counter clock wise movement so I'll call it "+2 degrees of advance plus".
