@clickboom Did you have a photo of the how the MSD was connected in the first post?
The second question, if you are 100% sure that all connections and grounds af good and of course connected correctly AND pickups (and pick up gap) are good and coils are good and the only thing left is the Brain, yes then it is the garbage. The MSD TL brain is potted electronic wich makes repair close to impossible.
But if you have any of/off switch, fuse or MSD TL module in your MSD setup, i would remove this before throwing it out, and hardwire the MSD brain.
(black to negative post on battery, red and voilet to positive post on battery)
I have a friend that had issues with his MSD (he is a very good mechanic as well) it would spark with plugs out and not spark with plugs in, turned out to be the fuse/holder with to much resistance.
I had problems with my MSD TL module (shifty / thrust module) so i hard wired my setup.
