If you didn't get a chance to ride KX454's ski then you really missed out. I rode his ski some on sunday and moving the motor back really made a difference. If you ride freestyle or surf then this is an awsome mod. I jumped the Kawi train a few years ago but riding his ski made me want another one. Great Job:biggthumpup:

I told the folks that were with me that Kx454's build off boat had very impressive bottom end!

it felt like an sxr still though ( wide and stable, and nose heavy.. to ME)

But, that boat made really good bottom end power.

I dont think he was impressed with my wife's stock FX1 though.

I rode that ski too. That thing hit nice. Footholds didn't fit my small feet but power was certainly sweet.

The SXR guys were definately representing out there. I saw DJ Korn tearing it up on saturday.

Stock SXR with footholds on flat water. He must've done 100 of em! I still can't even get close on the flat water. I must be a big :cat37:.

PS... :hail::hail:KX454's boat hits nice! Wayyyy faster than mine. :hail::hail:

I agree with you here, completely.

He was a VERY nice young dude, sharp, and impressive kid.

while boat swapping he and I spoke of riding more sunday, but I packed my crap and left sunday morning right after shonuff stole my beach cart.

Now I wish I had stayed longer.

Bob's a great guy. He likes to get the Superjet guys riled up on here, but it's all in good fun! He is going to be a damn good mechanical engineer one day.

I am going to incorporate some of his ideas into my SXR next winter (set back motor for sure). That's what these build-off's are all about! Last year I thought about the Build-off not so much as a competition, but just a cool way to show off all your innovations. I really believe these build-offs have pushed our skis soooooooo far ahead of where they would be otherwise.

I rode big fish's limited sxr and Kx454's ski back to back and I could definetly tell a difference in the handleing and the attitude of the boat in the water. I did have pretty good hit on the bottom also.

he was riding out of them yes. 100% rotation? i didnt think so.. but dam impressive!

My rotation is NOT 100%, but we are talking about flatwater rolling a stock (with holds) SXR here. Its not exactly like a SJ with pipe.

Anything past halfway off your own wake is tough to do. KX454's ski was as strong a piped sxr as I have ever riden, I'm not exactly an expert though. Just learning like everyone else.

i just got in from my 13 hour drive a few mintues ago and man am i happy its done. we rode alittle on monday then packed up and bailed, everyone was already long gone. i floated around on the raft for a while, got a terrible sunburn.

I really appreciate this thread guys, i dont even know really what to say but thanks.

i am very happy with the way my boat turned out and i am super thrilled you guys liked it. i took it down there not knowing if it was gonna be a total terd against your skis or what, but i guess that thinking out of the box in some aspects can work out. all the test fitting/measuring/drilling/welding/obnoxious tedious (sp?) tasks seemed to pay off. i got a few more tricks up my sleeve for next year, but you are gonna have to wait to check them out.:sneaky: .

i also want to thank all you guys for giving me the oppurtunity to ride all of your skis. i cant wait to go to another ride again this year, everyone that i met was super cool and makes me wish i lived closer to some of you guys so we could go tear it up. (i cant believe how light those superjets feel and how flickable they are, now i gotta think of more ways to lighten up my kawi)

hey mouthfuloflake i didnt mind the fx1 haha, i am just used to riding a big stable kawi. i hopped on that thing and it was all i could do stay up in the chop haha. thanks for the oppurtunity to ride it thugh, i have never seen one before this weekend. i took a cruise over on sunday and saw you guys had already left, you missed some good times.....

awesome event, cant wait for next years, hopefully yamaslut can stop grenading his motors, i felt bad for him...

hated I missed seeing this ski................. or meeting you.........

busy weekend.

it was very busy, i wish i knew what people looked like, i probably walked by you 20 times and never knew haha. i think everyone should have to wear a name tag or something that would make things so much easier

Best SXR I've ever ridden, by far. Excellent power/weight ratio, and doing a setup wake and making the turnaround was no problem. I just needed size 54 shoes to fit the footholds!

Great job!
