650/X-2 To buy or not to buy

Hey yall,
I just joined the site. I currently have a 2002 Kawasaki 1100zxi. I've been wanting to make the jump to a stand up ski and have found a 1989 Kawasaki 650sx for sale. The ad says it has many new parts although they aren't listed along with a solar panel battery tender and it is currently running. I have no knowledge of stand up ski's or really anything mechanical, I always pay someone to work on my toys. So anyways I was just wandering what yall think, would it be a good buy, and any additional information about them would be appreciated.

How much? I would consider anything over 3-400 to much. What about a title?

he is asking 900 for ski and trailer which i would not pay but im just wandering bout the ski before i try to do business with him. the nada value is like 550 for the ski, i really dont even want the trailer. i also contacted the seller asking about modifications, a title, and if i could get it checked out before i buy, i havent heard back from him but i just contacted him today

I would personally pass on that deal. For about the same amount of money you can find a 750sx..maybe even with mods.

An 88 650sx in poor shape has little value beyond its paperwork.

Agree. Definitely pass on that one. You can find a ski with a whole lot more power for around a grand. Just gotta be a little patient.

i have been looking, and i have found a couple but they are asking 2000+ for them...one for 1300 but it doesnt run.....

as for the whole florida coast thing, i live 1 mile away from the beach so i feel like all of them around me are going to be like that

Better look further inland for a ski. The problem with jetskis is that its difficult to find anything in decent condition for less than $3000. Even then they are usually rough. Whole skis that are POS are going for more than the sum of their parts.

look harder..I have sold a few 701 SJ's within the past couple years and you have trouble getting more than 1500 for them even in good shape

What are r&d heads??? Haha It's a stock head on that ski. That's an obvious red flag. U should have no problem finding a square nose with a 701 swap
