SX/SXi/SXi Pro To much Bottom?

Whats up Whats up.

So like everyone I want more bottom outa my Sxi-pro. So going to put the R&D Timing advance and the Wet Wolf pump cone on.

I just wanna know from people that have done this am I going to lose all my top end. I still wanna be able to scoot across the water at a fair clip. Dnt need to do 50, but I dont wanna be stuck at like 30 bcs I did these mods. Any input would be awesome. Thanks.

You cant hurt the top end. I did both of these mods and it helped a little. The ski still had great top end speed. The best bottom end help I got was from a factory wet pipe, second was an aluminum charging flywheel. The flywheel made the throttle like a light switch on or off. Good luck--Jason--

some type of aftermarket pipe, prop, and a high compression head! You will still have enough top end, i never ride WOT more that 10-15 sec! Good luck!

Yea id love the Factory Pipe. However Its outa my budget for what I want to do. Ive seen them for like $450, but thats more than I want to spend. But man id love to have one. 25 hp. Awesome.

I have thought about doing a High Compression Head. Does that help that much? Ive got 175psi in both cylinders as of yesterday. I could get a new head without breaking the bank.

Oh and a new prop. Looked at that too. Its on the 2 do list. But prolly not till next summer. Im doing the first little things to the ski for this summer. Then maybe more next. Rd Racing ties up alot of my $$. So well see.

My 96 sxi was fast out of the box. 175 psi is good compression I wouldnt waste my money on an aftermarket head with your compression. 185-190 is max on 93 you are close enough with 175. #0 on here lightens flywheels cheap. Second best bang for the buck. The prop that comes in the sxi is a 9/17 stainless. It works pretty well for stock. --Jason--

Sorry about the about missing the pro. Check with #0 he is cheap I think less than $100. He can also bore your exit nozzle for a little more bottom end. --Jason--

If you're on a tight budget just have the flywheel lightened and the reduction nozzle taper bored.

Also you can install a thinner .005" copper base gasket beneath the cylinder to lower the port timing and increase the compression for more bottom end.

Then save your money up and purchase a pipe if you want some more bottom end.

PM'ed.

The pipe isnt so much a saving money issue. Its do I wanna spend more on a pipe than I did on the ski in the first place lol. Just trying to keep the cost of this hobby reasonable, if thats possible lol.

Factory pipe would be nice, but unless business at my place of works picks up a great deal or I win the lotto its not gonna happen soon. But I dont mind the info. Its good to be informed.

You can use ecwi on wet pipes, including stock pipes. I've used it on 5 different boats and it's always been money well spent. I've fought the bottom end battle on Kaws before. Heres what improves the bottom end in order of results.
1. ecwi with or without aftermarket pipe
2. 81mm nozzle & chopped pump cone
3. flywheel and ignition advance
4. compression
5. reeds with spacers

If you do all this you'll need the tallest prop you can get your hands on to stop cavitation.

I have a Solas Concord 9-15 impeller and it scoots!!! I'm happy with the performance. I don't think I'd ever hold it WOT for more than 5-10 seconds, because I have a hard time staying on. lol.

Maybe look into upgrading to a new impeller?

What pitch prop should I look for, something that will give me some bottom end but still allow me to get around the lake at a decent clip. Id pick to have alittle more bottom end then top end bcs I know I kinda have to go one way or the other.

Sorry if this question has been asked a 1xxxxxx times.
