Surfriding to riser bar, or not to riser bar, that is the question.

So mostly ride freshwater surf on lake superior or boat wakes with my rn. Looking for an aftermarket steering system and I can't decide between a riser bar setup or a standard set up.

I've done a lot of reading on it and it seems like some people love it and some hate it but most people didn't have reasons why? Sooo what are those reasons?

Thanks in advance.

Rode my buddy's Q8 with riser bars once and it was awful...the bars were to high and it wasn't uncomfortable. He then put straight bars on his Q and it was amazing. Night and day difference...we are similar in height.

This is one of those mods you have to experience for yourself. You either love it or you hate it from the first second you touch it.

I'm not a fan and I am very glad I tried out a buddies before dropping the money to find out the hard way that I didn't like it.

I'm not a fan of riser bars either. I find that they make it more difficult to mount the ski after a munch. Elbows don't reach the rails.
Some love them for the lower center of gravity (the pole will generally be lower while riding) and other reasons, I'm sure.

Choosing a steering system doesn't necessarily lock you in to a certain style of bars.
I love the Cold Fusion steering. Straight bars, riser bars, whatever...will work as long as they are "fat in the middle". Low maint and easy install and very reasonably priced.
I sound like a sales rep. lol
