I love them, have a couple pairs. I wear them to work even, but I don't like them for the ski. Absolutely no padding on top. (or anywhere else, for that matter)

I wear the wresting shoes but they have zero side support. Lately my feet have been rolling over inside the shoe and I get tears in between my toes. My wife wants to switch to running shoes but the soles are so thick and they have so much grip, I can't see them working too well with footholds. They had 6 different types of the toe shoes on display and a couple of them had decent side support. I think the FILA's were decent but was really looking for a set of Vibrams.

Any really soft shoe is not a good choice for riding. They pretty much offer zero support. I used wetsuit booties for a while and they would twist up very easily. Better to stick with some form of shoe with a little more ridged structure.

Yeah, i have them. In theory your like, yeah these would be great. But like he saidyour toes come out. No top support. My feet hated me after riding in them.

So I am the only one so far who uses and likes them... I bought Vibram Flows this year. Not because of support, grip or any other reason- only because I was sick of my feet turning blue and going numb in the cold from exposure at the start of the season. I bought the smallest size I could physically put on and cinch the back strap very tight. For the first month I had to stop three or four times each hour or so to put my toes back into the slots. After the first month either the shoes reformed a little or my toes started to get more space between them... but now my toes usually slip back in without stopping even if they do pull out (though I did have to stop once tonight.)

I suppose that when I have to stop several times an hour to clear my intake of weeds it is not really a big deal to occasionally stop and fix the shoes.

It is true- there is no top padding and no rigidity, however, I find that they do grip the ski well. I am certain there are better riding shoes- but I really like mine. As an added bonus they have become my gym shoes as well.
