So i just got a squarenose hull and i've was thinking about putting on a watercraft factory top deck. For those of you who are doing it or have done it, how hard was it really? or was it just time consuming?

I really like the look of the watercraft factory hulls but cant afford one but this will at least come close to one. I also know that watercraft factory stuff is execlent quality so the only thing holding me back is the question how hard is it to do?

It's easier than you think.
The hardest part is glassing on the new nose piece for the hull.
The other hard part is finding ITW Plexus to bond the hull together.

Make sure you have a good 3 months in order to do it without a lot of stress. :)

If you wanted to save some weight, you might want to think about a top deck from XFT. Mine was 13 lbs.
I'm not exactly sure how much the WCF top decks weigh though.

Most importantly, if you do this conversion you are required by X-H2O law to post tons of pictures!!

Where did you end up finding it?

I think from christmas to the riot ride in may is enough time.

whats the price difference in the two? i believe the watercraft factory one is $895.

I like taking pictures:Banane01:

Geek, since you shortened your hull while the top deck was off, would you say it was possible to do it while its still a complete hull?(im assuming not)

I STILL havn't found my Plexus yet - hence the 'hard part'.

I think the price of the XFT is close to that of a WCF.
However, there is the cost of shipping, which will be around the $400 mark (it was $380 for me).
I would strongly recommend contacting Sergio about it.
You may be able to save money by going through a dealer (like CG Racing).

That doesn't get you a hood either. Figure on close to $2000 by the time you get everything you need. You can buy a VERY nice roundnose hull for that. The only way the squarenose conversion makes any financial sense at all is if you do something similar to Geek and actually get a lightweight top deck like XFT sells.

just rock the square...

mold the back rails something like the wcf hull or an sxr and get the nose piece Paul is gonna come out with.

that will make it very unique and still turn heads with out all that work.

Not a bad idea. I think i may PM paul and see how the nose pieces are coming. The only thing is it wouldnt match the paint on my ski:banghead:

i mean why go through all the trouble of separating the deck and what not.

Paul said the piece should be ready for xmas.

even if its not it should be done sooner or later.

then get a paint job over all that and that would def have peoples heads turning.

then a few winters down the road you can do the conversion if you want.

I don't believe I'd plan my project based on Paul saying that piece would be ready by X-mas. He's been saying it would be ready for a LONG time. I believe I read in a thread that the guy that made it said he wanted it back if Paul was never gonna get around to doing anything with it. Here are the links to this.

yea i think your right...

lol

i would imagine you would want a paint job any ways...

could always go rattle can black for a year.

nah, i wouldnt do rattle can. so i think i'll just end up doing one solid color for the whole ski. maybe like pancakers hull. That color is sick:cool2:

I forgot!
we've been thinking about pulling a mold off a roundnose and replace the lip of my square so that the roundnose hood fits a square. it will be some work and cost a bit, plus i gotta buy a hood, but this would solve the "good hood" problem of squarenose skis, i will have to modify my pole bracket to get it to work but i think it would look real good with the front nose piece. Also you can shorten the hull with it still together.

How did you glass the inside of the shortened part. Did you do it while the footholds were out? or did you just do the outside?
