okguys i figured out why it would not turn over the lanyard had been disconected and the splice was coroded. now it will turn over and fire start for about 1 second then die. i have old gas in it but i added pctane booster because the gas station doesnt have 93. compression checked out okay. could another coroded splice be causing it to not get enough fire to run? what should i check now. i even put in new plugs. think it could be the old gas?

the lanyard switch is disconected. so you mean the kill switch (red Button) correct? what is the simple way to siconect when they are spliced into the TL harness.

I forgot!
on mine the coil gets grounded on the little ring in the mount for the coil. i would think that you coil needs to have a ground too, plus th orange and blue.

you should have an on/off switch for the total loss have you checked that? when you take the plug out and ground it do you have a steady spark?

I did fix the splice to the kill switch earlier. So i thought i soldered the splice togather. it may be further down the line. i would pull the whole harness to fix it but if i do that i may as well put the stock electronics in it.

i'm pretty sure that is water reflecting light from the vibration but i will go do it in the dark to make sure.

I'm back it was water. I can see the red light on the bottom of the unit lighting up though when i'm cranking it. dont seem very bright though, could that mean it has a weak spark? what could be the cause of weak spark if i do have it? the coil maybe? how can i check to see if i have weak spark?

Not sure if this helps, but I switched my yami start stop assembly with a Kawi one with lanyard. With the lanyard off it will momentarily start then die, unlike the yamaha that does nothing. Apparently with stock electronics, it will fire the coils long enough while your cranking, then ground out.

the lanyard is bypassed. so does this mean it could be shorting somewhere and causing it to die? i have another S/S switch but hate to cut the good factory plugs off it just to check.

Best thing I know to fix this is to pull both plugs and lay them on the engine. When you try to crank the engine, you will either see sparks or you won't but you know where you stand immediately as opposed to trying to crank the engine. If no sparks, try every combination you know of lanyard settings, total loss switch, and then check the pickup. If you quickly tap the wires together on the brain side, the plugs should fire. If not, the pickup/spacing is the problem.
