Surfriding Total loss no spark signal

Hi guys I hope I'm posting in the right area but I'm having problems with my total loss system and I need help. It's the 4272 system that uses the twin post single coil.
My problem is I brought the system a while ago and finally went to use it and no spark. After testing I've worked out that there is no signal going to the coil. And if you change switch 4 on to use the LED. That all seems to work as it should but switch it back and nothing.

has anyone had this before?

thanks

I was just installing mine...same exact model lol. Are you turning the engine over by hand or with the start stop? We were turning mine by hand and getting no spark, then we noticed the ground wire from the motor was not hooked up to the battery, doh! Once that was hooked up we had spark.

Sorry I should have been more clear. I tried setting it up and then turning it over by hand after setting static timing and nothing so I tried bench tested it by touching the 2 green wires together and nothing. The only way it's showing anything is when I have switch 4 on to run the led

Instead of touching the two wires together, try hooking up the two wires to the pickup and passing a magnet over the pickup.

If shorting the pickup wires (on the brain side) doesn't work, then passing a magnet over a connected pickup isn't going to do anything, either.
The problem would be in the brain or coil

Agreed. Ur problem lies somewhere between in the brain... Possibly a bad dipswitch or a coil problem. If it makes the brain LED light up when it's in the timing mode then the pickup/magnet combo is gapped appropriately. Are u performing ur spark check with the plugs grounded against the engine? Is the lanyard installed when ur turning engine over by hand as well?

Make sure ur air gaps between the trigger and pickup magnent is correct to far away and it won't read the magnent to tell it to spark.

When I was bench testing my total loss, I tried shorting the two green wires to get a spark from coil. It didn't work until I hooked up the trigger and passed the magnet over it. Didn't make sense, but that's what happened.

Hi guys thanks for the info.
Yeh I tried it using the flywheel and pickup as well as shorting the green wires and nothing except setting up static timing using the led. With switch 4 on the led works any way I test it but switch it to run and nothing.
I have not tried kicking the engine over and testing it yet and the coil is brand new. With the primary (testing resistance between leads ) 11.3k ohms and the other 2 small wire that go to the brain 1.9ohms.

Every time I have tested it the engine and plugs have always been grounded.

I forgot to mention that I have tried using the stock replacement msd coil for Yamaha ignitions and I've tried using the stock coil that come out of the ski to test with and still nothing.

Ive got a feeling something is wrong with the brain but don't want to accept it haha

Then you were shorting the wrong wires. Also, you need to really watch the plug(s) as you do this. It sparks only once, when you first short the wires.
