Takes a lot of practice and heat for the spool gun and hard to produce a consistantly good weld to. Makes all the dif in world on a big job.

The right welder makes all the difference in the world too. Most are trying to weld aluminum with a generic or undersized machine. The machine I am buying would allow a monkey to weld aluminum.
I did do a ton more research since you asked but really didn't come up with any more detail than I had before. Those who can MIG say to MIG, those who can TIG say to TIG. I am trying to set up a test wherea I can try out both in the same day before I buy but spare time is somewhat scarse these days. Even if I do buy a welder, I'm not so sure I'll even have time to use it anyways.
