Trailer bunk question

I need to be able to slide my skis off my trailer a bit easier when I am on land. When the carpet is dry it is not so easy... Is anyone using trex decking or any other composite? or does it flex too much?

What are my options if I want to put something overtop the carpeted wood bunks, besides the plastic slides I can buy from the trailer store...

Thanks for your input

I've seen recommendations for, and will eventually try myself, cutting a pvc pipe in half and putting over the board. Just not looking forward to cutting the pipe.

Take Wet Black silicone tire dressing and smather that crap on your carpet. It'll fall off on the highway after that.

Get a couple strips of snowmobile hyfax (slides) and screw them on your bunks. These are made of UHMW, and are available in lots of colors. They run about $13 each, and you can get them around 5 feet long. If you're not in the snowbelt try Dennis Kirk.

I just bolted some pieces of UHMW Plastic to the top of my bunks. I store my ski on a stand in the garage when I'm not using it, so I need to be able to easily slide it back and forth from the stand to the trailer. You can do it with 1 finger with this stuff. Just have to make sure you're strapped down on the trailer.

Thanx, Penguin!

I was hoping for a local source. Shipping sucks and you always think of these things at the last minute.
