Tray options

Tried search, but nothing came up. Was hoping to find a thread of everyone posting up their unique trays (Footholds/widened trays/cut trays/footstraps). I would like to see some different setups!

so? sounds like a surf boat to me.....nice and heavy.

Yeah Kevin Ride the freakin thing you numb nut! STOP WORKING ON YOUR poop AND RIDE IT THE WAY IT IS SO YOU CAN RIDE not work:banghead:

exactly. fix it when its literally broken, not when its still ride able.... dont even think about defoaming and all that bs just in time to miss the winter swells.

I appreciate the concerns. But the original owner told me and Jon, "I would address this immediately. I would maybe ride it once more then fix it" (hesitant face). Even Jon understood and lifted his eyebrow. The bottom of my hull is LITERALLY cracked. The crack goes from the front of the engine bay to the intake grate. I am not riding my dream boat until it is fixed. $3k is a :):):):) load of money for me and I have no intentions of gambling all my money in the surf. I am not building this boat, I am fixing it. I will not miss this winter. I am tearing the boat down after my last midterm this week.

And yes, it will have straps.

Still <3 you guys

Back to the thread: Post up some trays!

Heres my favorite one. Mark Gomez helped a little :shhh:

Usual foothold setup here. I ditched the strap and added a front foothold now.....I love the damn thing and I cannot see myself riding without one going forward...

What are you doing with that mile long ride plate? Chasing buoys?

For lake riding straps suck, but for pure surf riding straps are great. You are in full contact with the boat at all times. You know exactly where you are.

I always unscrew my straps when I go to the lake

like stan said..keep it simple..with footstraps u can really lay your boat over when hitting the lip or doing a reentry and still have the control to straiten it back out before u land or get to the bottom of the wave..

you can also do turns in a more critical part of the wave because when the wave is going over vertical u can slide up the face and hang on the lip until it starts to throw and then blip the throttle and come down with the lip, airdropping into the flats..if just try to ride out normal you are going to bury the nose no matter what ski u are on...

also when coming off the bottom backside u can come from behind the section and literally bunnyhop up onto the lip and float the section back into the open face..with just a foothold u dont have enough leverage to change the momentum of your ski quick enough..

once u ride with them a few times they are very easy to get in and out of..i rarely complete a reentry or big turn off a closeout section with both feet in the straps unless i hit it perfect..usually i pull my backfoot out when recovering in the whitewater and then stick it back in once the pump is hooking up again.. if u just learn to ride your ski with your feet in the same place all the time u know exactly how its going to handle as apposed to moving your feet around all the time..it just eliminates one of the variable on how your ski handles on the wave..it took me a long time to convince oxnard111 to put straps in his ski and once he did he thanked me hahaha

i just pulled my turf off last night cause the underpadding was all smashed down and my tray was all cracked under my backfoot even though there was like 6layers of carbon in the tray..glass it up heavy the first time so u dont have to do it twice..
