Tubbies on a 2010 Superjet- worth it?

Location

Having used a 2004 SJ fitted with Destroyers, was fairly impressed by the difference it made. I've been toying with the idea of putting a set of tubbies on my 2010 SJ, despite it already being a nice handling ride.

Anyone ever used this setup or have any experience of it? Are any gains (assuming there are some) worth the time and money?

Thanks.

I've seen them on 08+ race skis with 1100's and that's it. Want to hear from someone who has done it. How beneficial can it be?

Look at a pre 08 with sponsons and a 08+ with no sponsons. The new hulls have some protrusion but they are no where near the size of a pre-08 sponson. The 08+ and 08- sponsons are not the same. The 08+sponsons are a bit smaller to make up for the new design. 08+ is improved but is not race ready. I would say get them.

I have ridden 08+ both ways but don't have a lot of ride time on them either way. I can't say for sure, but I think you'd be happier with them, but money is better spent on a pipe prop or head if money is tight.

Also cut the rear bond rail. It may feel like chime walk, but its actually causes by water running down the underside of the bond rail and hitting the bond rail in the back. It causes a lot of annoying side to side rocking. Clearencing the rear bond rail so the water can flow straight out the back helps with that.

Thanks a lot for the replies guys, some interesting points of view.

Vumad- ty for that detailed post. Cutting the rear bond rail is very interesting, I haven't heard that suggested before. I'll have to see if there's any build threads anywhere detailing this to give me an idea of how to proceed with it as I have definitely noticed the rocking that you mentioned.

There is a thread on this forum which is where I got the idea. I have a 08- but the guys I ride with have the 08+. One of the guys I ride with has a 08+ with no sponsons, he did the mod and said it did improve the rocking a lot. I have not ridden his ski yet.

After having a search around the X, the best I could find was this thread with some really interesting info from Mark Gomez. There's some talk in that thread of removing sections of the rear bond rail although I can't find any further threads discussing whether anyone got this done or not...

The post from Gomez is not the one I was talking about. There is one where someone posted a picture of the cuts. I didn't find it but I'm not quick at searching using the phone.

Johnny Africa is the one I was talking about who did it. Maybe he can post a picture?
