300/440/550 Tubbies on X2, exhaust outlet suggestions?

rear exhaust

the last hull I used 2" od pvc...the problem with that is it is like 1 1/2 id..the new hull I've built I used 2" galvanized car exhaust...before everyone starts to bash...I painted the outside ...5200'd it in then refoamed it...it will last longer than the hulls usually do...seems the 750..factory pipe and sxr prop is a little hard on the old machine...my last held up a whole year then it broke across the back like legdrags....and was water logged...:highhorse:

has anybody ran into a back pressure problem with there exaust after putting in a 750 . the tubing is 1 7/8 any other ski I have seen with the 750 has 2" pipe at least and mine just got changed to dual 44 carbs with that much air going in I would want as much back out as possible. Any suggestions would be great . Didn't mean to steal your thread.

I have been a big advocate of the front outlet only for a while now. However my ski is soo dirty after even just one ride I am having second thoughts. Even my helmet has a black sooty tint to it. The oriinal outlet isn't that bad but still does poop all over the side if you have a lighter color which I think just makes a bad statement about our sport being a poluter. I am going to revamp some stuff on my orange 840 and one will be a rearward/pump cavity outlet so there will be no evidence of the goo my motor makes.

The only way my Frank N Steiner would work was with the thru hull rear exhaust-resonator combo,it fits in there oh so nicely, only time will tell if it was a screw up to do this or not, after seeing all of those heavily modded kawis break consistantly I still think this is a good idea. My cost on rebuilding a doo motor is about $600.00 you can't buy many mods for that kind of coin.

i have a friend with a pump cavity exhaust set up on his x2. it work well and is nice and quiet but the big problem ive found with pump cavity set up is you cant do tail stands. the ex gasses fills up the pump cavity and then finds its way into the pump and you lose all drive in your jet unit

Man that is a bummer. Maybe I will run it out the side 3/4 down to the rear or where my scupper is. Seems like scuppers are more trouble than they are worth. Sometimes they are awsome but other days they just piss me off, especially in surf.

You'd rather have the one way instead? Or nothing but bilges?

You know I have been having a cavatation problem on the 300sx,the symtoms are identical,it did have the tube that exits the exhaust around the exit nozzle but it was too restrictive and I removed it.Now exactly what you said no tailstands,it also acts up at other times,I may have to extend the exit out the back further or come up with a different style of exit.
