Turf advice and bolt question

Question One:

I am looking for turf advice. I get the idea of getting the old stuff off and ski sanded down to make it as clean as possible. My question is what the trick to getting the new turf cut to shape. Does any one have recommendations on how to make templates? Also what is the best method to turf the side rails.

Question Two:

Does anyone know if McMaster or another source has allen head bolts to replace the long stock flat head bolts on the OEM flame arrester?

Thanks!

That is what I use. And blue painters tape. Then cut with a razor blade. Also before you lay a large peice of turf that is going over bends etc throw it in the dryer for a few minutes.

I just did my first turf job on my rn.

I was given template paper from my upholstery guy, he makes isen glass(the flimsy plexy glass on boats for windshields/bridges etc) and also does all upholstery

I tried it, it didn't work, what worked for me was cheap indoor/outdoor carpet from home depot, was able to pull and trim without it folding as much.

As for the bond rails, same thing, template and then over cut the turf, then trim as you need.

I used shears for the trimming

I also recommend finding a starting point, for me I started on the forward corner sides for the tray, worked up and then back over the gunwales

I just did this about a month ago so if you'd like any pointers feel free to ask, there are a few spots that I don't like that I did

The best thing I have ever used for turf removal. Took 10 minutes to remove 27 year old turf

JetManiac stocks ss allen head bolt kits for sgl or dual OEM flame arrestors.

2 people and a heat gun for the bendy spots. Don't stretch the turf too much when its hot though. It will shrink and you'll have gaps at the edges. Take your time!
