Custom/Hybrid Turf questions

I'm working on a frankenski currently. I'm debating on building up wedge in the turf in front of the foot holds like I see on a lot of skis around here.

Do most of you guys like that? Does it feel funny since your foot is always at an angle?
Do you have and issues with your toes smashing into the front?

This will be my 5th turf job. I'm no expert but I'm good enough I can get it done. Any other tips to make it feel nice?

Going with the 20mm underpad.

I have them on my ski and took me a bit to get used to them.
But I like them and am thinking of putting them on my other ski.
Helps keep your feet in the foot holds. My toes don't smash into the front but I also have under padding in there.

What part took getting used to? Just a different balance?

The foot holds were already done when I bought the ski. So not sure if it was getting used to the new ski or the different style foot holds with wedges.
main thing I noticed is when your riding and the ski isn't nose up it feels like your leaning forward but when you are nose high your basically standing straight up, to a point.
Might not be the best description, have not rode in a while, all the lakes are frozen lol.
