Turf Under-mat questions.

I'm going to replace the stock tray turf on our 08 SJ. We ride on flat water, but do jump large cruiser waves. I don't know much about under-mat foam padding, but sounds like it would be way more comfortable.

Do you just glue it down first and then glue the turf to it? What thickness, I see several types?

I use 8mm thick padding. And I jump waves in the inlet. That's what all my friends and myself use. And yes make sure to glue the heck outta it!

I've found that the soft black under padding is too soft and will split if you get big air and land hard. I always put my heels thru it and that ruins everything. I like to use that grey interlocking floor pad. its more dense and doesn't give as much, so its not as soft, but you don't put your feet thru it either. home depot sells the floor pad I think and you really need to use the dap brand weldwood contact cement in the red can only.

Do you know what it's called at HD or have a link? That was one of my concerns, I don't want something that will breakdown and not hold up over time.
