Turfing rub rails blaster

Hey she. You turf the rub rails are u over lapping cause the sheet I bought is only 61 by 41 inches I would have to over lap to make it fit? How are people doing it to look clean?

When I did the rails on my SN I had the same problem and I ended up having a seam (barely visible though). I cut long strips the length of the sheet of turf about 6" wide (wider than you think you'll need so you can cut off the excess). If you want to be picky you can overlap sheets to line up the pattern. When you go to glue it down, line up the pattern and butt the two pieces up tightly and the seam will barely be visible.

Do u have pics of what it looks like I think my nest bet is to buy the kit from hydroturf or blowsion and then use the sheet I bought and make sides instead of custom fitting the whole thing

Sorry for the pic quality, and the rail is peeling because it's been on there for like 4 years at the point this pic was taken, but the seam is like 6" in front of the last A on "yamaha"

It will last at least a few years if you prep the surface properly. More people can chime in with their experience.

How do you prep it? I'm about to have someone help me on mine who knows what they are doing and has been doing it for years supposedly

Sand the surface with 80 or 120 grit to rough it up, then blow clean with compressed air. Wipe down with acetone then blow dry with compressed air. Use two coats on the rails and turf of cement with dry time in between coats (about 10 mins). The glue should be dry to the touch (tacky) before you start laying the turf on. Heat helps it contour.

I went a different route for my rails. I cut four equal length pieces. Two with the turf in one direction and two with it in the other and alternated the pieces. Then it looked good and I didn't have to line up patterns.

I used 3 strips on my blaster. Centered one piece on the nose then did the sides. That way the seam is in the same spot on both sides.
