Can you try to hand choke your carbs to prime the fuel system on cold starts? You could have a air leak or you are a tad lean on your bottom end jetting for cold starts. My ski likes to idle high on cold starts until all the air bubbles are out of the lines.
This worked for the most part just giving it gas and choking it.....So what should I do or check for now?

He speaks from experience and so do I. Hold throttle wide open with stop button in and it will stop.
Has always worked for me as well.

I forgot!
I just leave mine and hand choke the carbs for the first cold start. I do one carb at a time until I see fuel flow down the carb throats. I then turn on the ignition and it revs high for 30 seconds. I give some throttle blasts if it sounds like it is winding up too tight. It almost sounds like it wants to take off but it doesn't. I have no air leaks. If you want to check for air leaks you can do it by spraying starter fluid around the suspected areas. Be smart about the amount you use. You may be best to do that on the trailer with the pump loaded. Out of the water is easier to hear the airleak when you spray the starter fluid, but the motor needs to be idling, not running away, and not overheat. If your flywheel is grimy then it could be your seal. I think you could just be lean for your cold start and have air in the lines.

Hmm well shoot, although it a bit reassuring that you seem to just deal with this, I feel like it should start without a primer ... I did pull the flywheel last week just to verify my timing was dead on and it was clean as a whistle in there. There are no apparent air leaks that I have found becuase I thought this was the real issue as well, even replace minty looking intake gaskets. Have also replace ALL of the fuel lines to make sure they were 100% sealed including the pulse lines. One thing that might be worthy of noting is that while there is fuel in the lines, however while cranking it doesn't seem to be flowing so well. I'm not sure if it should be ciculating like it would if it were running or not?

I forgot!
I got an external pump and it flows like mad when I crank it over. I just hand choke it to save battery and get it to fire up right away. The rest of the day and usually next morning it fires right up with just a flick of the switch and push of the green. If it sits all week long neglected in the back of the truck. It needs a little help to fire it up.
