Twin Vs. Tripple Weight Difference

ANYONE KNOW THE APPROX. WEIGHT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A KAWI 650\750 TWIN AND 1100\1200 TRIPPLE? I'M THINKING ABOUT A BIG MOTOR FOR A SMALL SKI PROJECT.:sneaky:

divide the weight of your 2 cyl. by 2 then times that # by 3 and that should give you an approximation of the weight of the triple cylinder

or weight the 2 cyl and multiply by 1.5

Can I take a 1200 engine, bore it out, add a pipe, and a few other neat parts, and drop it into my 650SX? That'd be neat...

That's similar to what i was thinking. Instead of spending tons of money to super mod a 650 just to be ok,or starting from scratch on a 750 conversion to be just a little better, why not do a tripple. They can be found complete for just a little more and would need very little mods and have more torque.Should last longer also from not being pushed as hard.Just a thought.

Anyone have a tripple in a stand up or X-2 that could offer some insight on how it performs\handles?

^^^^ I would imagine that the added weight would be awsome around bouys, but suck for freestyle... my 2 cent

You may also want to reinforce for the added weight+power, if you plan on launching it out in the surf.

Is a real noticeable difference. A 750 is easy to drop in yourself, but my 1100, I needed 2 people

Yeah I bought an 1100 ZXi with a blown engine. I only paid 400 for it and the trailer. Wel lI kept telling myself I could part the rest and plunk this engine in a spare X2 hull i had. Besides we have all seen it done before right? I have seen pics of theX2, the 900/1100 750 SX mentioned before, an SXR conversion on eBay, and teh SXi Pro AJS did with an 1100.

Well after pulling that engine out the 1100 hull by myself, I said forget it! Right now it sits in a box in my garage for another day. I will most likely rebuild it and put it back into the 1100. I can tote a 650/750 aroudn no problem. That 1100 was a good bit more weight. I scratched the 1100 and tore 2 pairs of shorts and 2 shirts the two times I moved that engine.

If I noticed the weight moving it, you should notice the weight in your ski.

On another note... I wonder how much a Hydrospace weighs? Because if you could put a 1100 in a Blosion free ride light weight SXR hull, that would be sweet!

While I had my 1100 Triple sitting on the bench next to my empty x-2 Hull I noticed some things that would be a PITA. 1100 Has larger engine mounts and different longer placement, a Much larger coupler and crankshaft thread size, stock pipe is HUGE and would never fit, and good luck finding a pipe that fits that can mount to that manifold....you would also need complete electronics as the 1100 has 3 plugs....and like I said above...MUCH heavyer
