We both went away from the holds and are all about the foot strap life. A wise man once told me real men ride with straps and I now understand why.

Neither skis are for sale but everything I own is for sale if the price is right. Mine is the blue and white by the way. Thanks for the compliments. Anyone is welcome to ride mine just meet me out at Oceanside in the surf some day and don't sink it.

Around this time last year we made a few fixed steer hoods for these rockered sj's. We had some raider hoods and extra glass/resin laying around as well as two square hoods. My pole at the time was too long and I wanted to be able to get up over the bars better. We both ran the hoods for a while and they were a blast but we have since gone back to poles and lowered hoods....although I think I will be putting my fixed steer hood back on now with some suspension steering. I have had a few people who have seen these skis with the fixed steer hoods asking for pictures and how we made the hoods. Rather than explain too much I uploaded about 60 photos to my photobucket link below.

In a similar way that has been done before we started with a superjet hood and a wave raider hood. Chopped the steering portion of the raider hood out and glassed it to the sj hood. These are different than others I have seen because they are lowered up front toward the nose to match the lines of the rockered nose of the ski. Different from other threads I saw using raider hoods we did not use any portion of a stock pole for mounting. The hoods use OEM hood mounts from a waveraider that are bolted with backing plates to the front of the fixed steer hood which are then bolted to the lowered pole mount. Two ratchet straps are run on the front and the back to hold the hood to the ski secure...along with OEM Yamaha hood latch. The set up allows you to easily swap between pole and standard hood to fixed steer hood by just changing your steering cable (used raider or vxr steering cables). These hoods were made in a short week, no time was put into making them look good other than some paint, the point was to see if this would even be fun before putting effort into making them look nice....and they were an absolute blast. Originally swapped back to the pole on my ski for two reasons 1. my wrists were starting to hurt riding the surf 2. I seemed to nose dive a bit because I would rest all my weight on the bars. I will be switching back soon with suspension steering and I also have tubbies on the ski now to help keep the nose up when I rest all my weight forward.

Love your build! I'm building something similar, just wondering how they ride? Flipable? Can you still sub with a rocker? Haha thanks. Have a look at my build. (It's flip to be square)

Been buildimg this square nose for about 3 months finally got one coat of paint down its minus 5 in the rear i angle cut to the second set of threads where the ride plate goes.those are capped withcarbon kevlar and multiple layers of glass from the inside ,added small check valve 1 inch plan to run bildge as well built this for as little as possible all parts were made by me to save the cost of a bob or xscream foot holds and the carter b rocker . nose was cut into a accordian to rocker the nose. It ended up being cut back about 4 inches. The hood was chopped and the original air tray was left in tact minus the huge water drinking holes on the top. This was also covered with multiple layers of glass and then capped with 2 layers of kevlar and carbon fiber. Foot tray was widened and has a relief cut for your legs to be able to move freely without rubbing on the side wall. Still building need some help with a pole and have very limited money for this build any help would be huge my other stock sn has a modded 701 im swapping into this hull.
