Type 4 Factory Pipe on stock 61X?

Does anyone have any feedback about using a Factory Pipe Type 4 dry pipe on a stock 61x motor? I'm considering one for my '95 SJ but I can't find any information for how well they work with a stock 61x (stock head, stock porting, etc.)

I'm looking for a freestyle/freeride setup. I do realize that the B-pipe is arguably the "best" pipe for me, but I'm looking for something a little cheaper and possibly more available. I don't have the cash for a new B-pipe, and finding a decent priced used one seems to be one in a million.

The Problem You Have With Running Dry Pipes For Freestyle Is They Are Built Thin. And Dont Hold Up To The Beating !! Usually They Break !!

I was wondering about that too. I've seen many of them that have been rewelded at the upper mounts where it bolts to the head.

I'm by no means a good freestyle rider so I won't be putting it through the punishment that many other people could. But I do want something that will last.

If you have a decent prop(impros hooker, concord 13/16 cutback, swat swirl 12/17), an an msd enhancer, that pipe will be plenty for your motor even at stock compression. Ive ridden type 4 boats that have good low end power, but they are dialed in on jetting and nothing needs to be changed.

This is all good info, thanks guys. I guess my main concern was the porting differences between the 62t and 61x cases. I figured the Type 4 was probably designed for the t cases and wasn't sure how it would work on the x cases.

I'm running a Solas I series impeller that Impros repitched for me to 13/16. It might not be quite as good as the concord or swirl type impellers, but I can't make a comparison becasue I've never been on a boat with that style of impeller. I've been really pleased with the performance of this repitched impeller though.
