Custom/Hybrid Type 9 pipe water routing

Thanks Quickmick, so what is the difference between my setup and yours, are you running FCV and is it even necessary, and are you running a water filter on your pipe?

Just to clarify, I researched all the fpp intsructions and the pictures of R&d routing, those are the first ones that come up when you google it. None of them make much sense, that's why I drew my layout so you guys can look at it and make suggestions. Just look at the pic I drew and tell me if it's right or adjust it. Kinda like Quickmick did in his reply. Thanks...

The McMaster parts reference thread should have specifics on which filters to get or go to www.mcmaster.com. You want them between the fittings on the bulkhead and the motor/exhaust so they stop all sand/debris before it can get to your motor and more specifically the exhaust. The water jacket on the chamber can be very tight in some places and can easy clog causing hot spots and overheating.

Just got a response back from Factory pipe , here it is :

"We don't use, nor comment about, flow control valves. There is no filter in that line on our setup, it is just a piece of clear waterline.

The second line from the pump goes to the 3/8" 90 degree fitting on the chamber, just below the coupler.

We don't run any lines from the head to the pipe.

Correction, I'm going split one line from the pump that way I can use both intake holes on the manifold. The second line from the pump goes into the fitting on the pipe chamber which is located towards the back of the ski maybe a couple of inches pass the coupler...right. But what do I do with the third nipple on the manifold? it's center and closest to the coupler, what is that for? The original set up had a line from the head into the chamber and also a "T" with a line going to this third nipple on the manifold with a what looks like jet in the fitting. On my picture it's the green dot. Do I just block it off ?TYPE 9 DRY PIPE WATER ROUTING.jpg

IMO..if you even think that you might be riding anywhere ever where you will possibly run more than 2 specs of sand through your pump I would run a small sea strainer with that pipe. Just add extra cooling line as needed so that you can place the sea strainer in a spot that it will be easy to see and easy to clean.

They clog super easy and ruin your day. With a sea strainer you can pull your hood....empty the little strainer cup...and be back to riding. Without one you are heading home to back flush the pipe with your garden hose after being towed in by your buddies.

Or worse if you don't catch it (watching pizzers) then you are melting things.

Jetpilot808, where do you ride? On a sandy beach??

I have ride my ski on the sandy water of Galveston and never had an issue with sand in my pipe. But then again I do back flush my ski after ever ride. Even after the back flush there is no sand on my driveway.

IMO I just dont see the need for a strainer. You can get one at West Marine.


Ok, post a link of the seastrainer where I can purchase it...please.
