Custom/Hybrid Type 9 pipe water routing

Yea here in Cleveland we have a mix of sand and tiny shell pieces....and I tend to ride up close to the beach sometimes :)

It can't hurt to run one...but it can hurt if you don't!

Unless you know what you are riding in 100%.

I got your PM....I'll look for a link....but mine were small 3/8" sea strainers with clear removable buckets.

Here is 3/8"....but if you could get 3/8" hose over a 1/2" barb you would be better off IMO....because the ID on the 1/2" is going to be bigger and have better flow. You could always just try riding with no strainer for a while and see what happens. Just be aware of what CAN happen...

Not realy sandy beaches up here in Reno, mostly clay and rock and like the idea of just backflushing after every ride, we'll see. my problem lies in post number 16 and 17, what do I do with the third nipple (green arrow) and do I take out the restricting jet out of the nipple that goes out? I like the idea of more water in the water box because this thing sounds like a jet boat. When I pull up at the lake, people disperse like I got a disease...lol. Plus my waterbox is carbon, very tiny so it's not like it holds much water anyways. Please reply guys....I realy appreciate your opinion.

I run my type 9 with a strainer. I use a sea-doo oil filter though. I managed to get some cheap. It only takes a grain or two like others have said to ruin your day. My pissers were still going, but i had clogged the jet going to the stinger and got the waterbox so hot it melted my steering cable along with a few other things. Those jets have very tiny openings.

I will probably do the strainer and the backflush kit to be safe. But please answer the 16 and 17 post questions. Sounds like you have the same setup. What is the third nipple good for on the manifold, and why do I want to restrict the flow to the stinger? Pros and cons....please.

I tried running a single cooling like the way in your pic before on my stock 701 and it would over heat after shut down. Now I run dual cooling almost like in your pic just with only 2 out let pissers. No over heats. I also run flow control on my pipe so it doesn't bump water into the water box off idle pressure. If u don't do this your bottom end well almost be gone.

On the type 9 you have 4 barbs on the exhaust manafold side u have a in then the next barb is a out about 3/4 of the way though the pipe that barb is where u run flow control to the last barb to dump water into the water box the barb in between the 2 and 4th barb so the 3rd barb is out to the pisser I can send u pics if needed to help. Make sure u got the right jetting this pipe is a 135 main and 75 pilot but u need to run a 2.0 needle and seat other wise your pop off is to high and won't open up unless u turn high speed out 4 turns this is with dual silver springs hope this helps

Hi justin thanks for u r help. If u could send me a pic i would appreciate a lot as i haven t understand exactly where do i have to set the fcv. I have a jetworks valve by my own but the issue is where to set it up.

That t you have there is where my fcv is. I won't be home for like 7 more hours but as soon as I get home I'll send you some pics. I like the polish job on your pipe. Did u do it your self mine was powder coated I tried to strip it off bud gave up and painted mine to match my ski.

I did a chrome bath. i ll wait for the pics! So basically i have to shrink the water flow to the water box?
And about carbs. I have dual stock carbs with aftermarket flame arrestor and carbon reeds. Ada racing heads with 35cc couples and msd.
What set up would u suggest me to use for low and high jets screws?

My ski has a riva head its 175psi ported and polished with vforce 2 reed intake stuffers a lighten flywheel with a aftermarket Cdi and coil and a freestyle prop
So that said my tune should work about the same for you at sea level

135 main
75 pilot
2.0 needle and seat with dual silver spring it's the stock spring. Do not run a 1.5 it won't open up on the top end. Pop off with these jets should be around 25lb with a 1.5 it's around 45lb you won't get it to open up and if u do it gonna be sluggish.

High speed screw 1 1/4 turnes out from bottom
Low speed screw is 3/4 of a turn out from bottom.

So for the fcv is mid barb to the last barb the barb in the middle of those barbs there's another barb that barb is straight out to the pisser

Ok i ll buy new jets and set them up as u suggest thanks dude! waiting for pics anyway
