This is a question.Why can't someone fabricate a universal mouldable mounting plate made to fit motor mounts,battery box,and whatever else someone wanted to install in a aftermarket hull? These mouldable plates could be designed for any kawi,yamaha or what ever engine you were setting up. Then all you would have to do would be to soak them in a bonding agent,measure and stick em.

I believe he means an inner liner like a Thunderjet or WDK hull uses.
Ok.lf you purchase an aftermarket hull that has nothing in it ,let's say one of the stunt hull deals ($1499).And it is left up to you to install the engine mounting plates,inserts for the battery box,gas tank,waterbox,etc.Instead of epoxing down mounts to the hull,you have a premanufactured piece.Have you ever looked at a Trinity hull in the engine area.These guys have an awesome mounting piece for their inserts for the motor,etc.Does that help?

The inner liner on the WDK hulls suck ass. I think glueing in some aluminum mounts is a much better plan. I think it would be nice to have a jig that bolts to the midshaft mount and the motor mount plates to make it easier.

Sorry I didn't mean it that way, I just don't have any experience with Thunderjet engine bays and I know the WDK has some issues.
Not to bash the idea but reality and the cost to build one wouldn't be cost effective at all. The idea of this jig or mold is a highly specialized piece of equipment. You have to think that a very small percentage of us have aftermarket hulls. Then a small percentage of that small percentage bought a hull that didn't come complete for the engine package of their choice.
The cost of a mold that size would be pretty high so the price of an insert would also be pretty high. Plus, I seriously doubt that the chine height on one ski will be the same as the chine height on another ski. I don't know about you but if I had to pay more than about $50 for a tool to help in alignment, I'd just align it myself. Also, if I couldn't get the tool at my house in less than a couple days, I'd align it myself as well.
The last thing to think about is weight. This piece has to hold all the really heavy stuff so it can't be cheap and flimsy. Even if it was made of carbon fiber ($$$), it would still weigh 5lbs or more and it'd be stupid to spend thousands on a lightweight hull just to throw weight on top to make putting everything together a little easier.

A jig would be super easy to build and would be a nice option to have with a hull kit. That said I would do it myself.
Waternut,you are right about the jig.Would be expensive.My bro in law works for an off road race team,he suggested the jig too.

The problem you run into is that an inner liner adds height, sometimes it just won't work especially if the hull is not designed to accommodate that additional height.Superramjet ran into this on one of his Octane builds.It does make for a much cleaner sleeker engine compartment which is why I kept the inner liner on my build.
