Deep enough for my ski, yes. Not so much for me if I don't make it around. I like being able to walk and to ride "stand up" skis.

I hear ya, if the surf is less than 4 foot I think about nosing in also if the timing goes bad.

It sure can be shallow depending on tide , wave size and if the outside is breaking.

In your case you would have to huck a double since you've over rotated the single easily.
