NEW LOCATION for Freestylefest 2012
***The launch access point for this ride has been moved due to the fact that Bolles Harbor is closed for construction***
The owner of Doglady Island off of East Dunbar Road has agreed to give us access to his private island for a nominal charge for the group so that we can launch our skis there for the day. In order to cover these costs there will be a launch access fee charged for each ski accessing this launch area.
The access gate to the island will be locked after all the riders are in attendance that have contributed to this ride. From there we can launch and head over to the normal riding area and beach on the peninsula.
WHERE:
For those that don't know, the Hothole is a small area of water that the powerplant empties there cooling water into. This keeps it unseasonably warm through cold weather. This is usually one of the last chances to ride in Michigan. Last year it was in the 40s and we were still out there staying warm.
Freestylefest is all about meeting new people, talking about riding and maybe learning from the experience. And above all... having fun.
DIRECTIONS
Take 75 to the Laplaisance Rd. exit (#11). From there turn right on to Laplaisance Rd. and proceed for approximately 1 mile, then just before you cross over the railroad tracks, turn right on to East Dunbar Rd. Take E. Dunbar Rd down for approximately 2 miles and you will see the Doglady Island entrance on your left. Follow that back to the parking lot and that is where we all put the skis in.

You will still be able to trailer launch and recover your ski(s), but if we have 2 or 3 beach totes that should ensure a more efficient launch and recovery process. I have included a picture of the launch area below.

I'm hope there will be a couple boats at the hothole for us to do some wake jumping as there is every year. Just remember to be safe.
