cool idea, im guessing the rope stays attached to the ski and the buoy will obviously float? what length rope? different length options?

The Retriever

I believe the bag itself is buoyant.. like a small PFD. It doesn't look like there is any "devise" inside, to inflate anything.

Cool product.. We won one down in Daytona last weekend.

I took a quick peak at these in Daytona. It is really a simple setup and IMO pretty damn smart. The bag itself is the flotation, no inflation involved (K.I.S.S.) The bag is velcroed to the ski, I am not 100% sure if the bag will rip away from the velcro as a ski is sinking. I'd like to hear/see how well that works too. I would think in most scenarios you could simply pull the bag to be safe.

Nothing mechanical or electronic to rely on.

Exactly. The bag it self is super buoyant, with its neoprene and foam construction. And the polypropylene rope is also very buoyant. The ideal situation is to pull the bag off when you think your introuble just to be safe. But for those extreme situations where the waves take the ski away from you, that's where the automatic deployment comes in. How you set the sensitivity of the Retriever deployment is the amount of Velcro you use when you mount it to the vehicle. I used the full length of Velcro on my rickter. A video showing how the bag deploys will be posted soon.

I saw them at Daytona and just thought they were a standard throw bag. Wish I had of stopped and asked a few questions now.

We used to use a similar setup on our skidoos when we did the water skips. It's a small market but it wouldn't hurt to market this product to them as well.

There will be a display at Ingles Performance in Phoniex, NY this weekend. They are a large powersports dealership. Hopefully some snowmobiles pick some up, the ice is thin and very deceiving.

Nice. Might have to get that for the new ski. What's the estimated weight with the standard 50ft rope?

Trust me, and others can chime in. Spending $2,000 to just locate a sunken Jetski and the stress along with it, can be avoided with this simple accessory. And yes this was patented and being manufactured when I lost the amp.

Theory is good and all but grab some free hulls from people and fill them with bricks and show how well this really works.
