Upgrading the KDX to DVX specs => KVX :)

So, I've been riding my 2013 Xscream KDX for 2.5 years now and really love it. Being back in school, and just became a farther, the money is tight - so i need this Hull and setup for the next 2 years at least.
The hull is strong and have done extremely well for me, now stress cracks or sign of stress, really happy with it!
I noticed the changes from the DVX to the KDX is small, and smallest with the latest version of the KDX hull, Xscream states DVX is 1" shorter, but measuring a few DVX, the bottom is 1.5cm shorter than my KDX otherwise identical.
The tray is 1" shorter on the DVX, and the footholds are bigger and moved 2" forward on the DVX compared to KDX.
So my project is, install DVX footholds, move them 2" forward, at shorten the bottom 1.5cm or go (2" - 1.5cm + 2.5cm, 4cm total)

Being exam period and having a 10 week old baby girl, the time is defiantly limited, but only way to get the project going, is to start cutting haha.
First cut seems stupid to cut into a perfectly fine and nice 8500dollar hull :) But im sure it will be awesome.

I love my KDX too...one thing I like, it's easy to run a RN pole bolt with a Blowsion spring and keep the pole semi tight. The pole is effortless to move upward and I am spring spoiled/dependent for life. Haven't heard how to run a spring on the different design DVX.
Anyways...interesting to see how this will turn out, good luck !

I'll jump on the subscribe bandwagon also. I'm very curious to hear a ride report. In my experience, the KDX and DVX are similar, but the DVX rotates much faster. So I'm curious if your mods will help achieve that goal. My bunghole is also puckering when looking at those pics.

Did the pump tunnel change between kdx and dvx
No they are identical :)

Yes thats what i aiming for :)

Yikes, those pics make me pucker. I can't even fathom cutting into my KDX. Kudos to you with the giant cajones. Sub'd for the ride report!

Lots of DVX has the normal JD 155 pump shoe :) (not O ring style)

I can't remember his screen name, but this burgendee red DVX has normal style shoe/pump :)

This is mine from when we re-painted the bottom :)

Crazy that the pump tunnels did not change. I have to grind thru my ride plate to get a 148 pump/seal to fit. I know they went with a lock ring pump but was curious how a traditional 155/160 pump would fit
I put a 155 skat in my KDX with a JD pump shoe and everything fit well except ride plate is notched in for the stator/reduction nozzle joint casting. That SB pump really works fantastic in my ski.

So a little progress today. I made a pair of carbon "brackets"/ ends for the gunwales, to accommodate the arched shaped the DVX footholds has. Made a template from hard foam, the wrapped it in foil, put 3 layers of 200gram/m2 carbon, one 450gram/m2 and then 3 layers of 200gram again, bagged it and put it away.

These pieces, will be glued and laminated in to the existing side of the top deck/gunwale, and finally glue/laminated to the footholds to accommodate the contours of the DVX footholds finish :)

So a little progress today.
First i wanna give a huge thanks and shout out to the guys at Xscream, they never stop to impress me with their service and help.
I wrote a mail to them, asking if there was any chance they could provide a messaurment on the back end (rideplate/hull section) 1 hours later i received an email with pictures and measurements, how cool and nice is that!
So today i had the measurements on the rear end on my KDX, a DVX and a Helium - so started cutting the bottom :)IMG_7081.JPG

So next up is to grind the pieces i cut out, glue inside the bottom and when cured i will lay a few overlapping layers inside and outside and bag it :)

So little progress today again. Hard to find time between school start again and a 3 months old daughter :)
I had to grind the cut off pieces to fit inside the hull. The scupper side went fine, but the exhaust side went bad as the hole got to big.
So i put up 6-8 layers of 450gram carbon and bagged it, made a template and cut that out - grinded it to fit.
Im happy with the fitment now, so next thing is to glue this pieces back in, let it cure. laminate both inside and outside and bag it.
