Hi guys
My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to the USA (first for both of us) and we are starting the trip in Las Vegas 9. oct. Our plan is to use friday in LV, drive to WF and be there sat, sun and monday.
After the weekend, drive up along the west coast for 14 days.
So we would appreciate any recommendations towards renting a car to drive (preferably a bigger US car), hotels or motels to stay in. (also at WF) And if you know any places "must see" along the west coast, this would also be nice to know.
Hope to meet some of you guys and finals 14 :)

There is a ride in Pismo the weekend after finals. I'm roughly planning my trip now and might be hitting the Grand Canyon and New Mexico after because I have family that direction.

I suggest seeing the Hoover Dam and the O'Callahan bypass bridge while you are in Las Vegas. The Grand Canyon, Valley of fire, Red Rock, Death Valley, and Zion National park are all within a 3 hour drive of Las Vegas. I suggest checking those out if you have time. They are all very scenic places. If you plan on going to many national parks I suggest getting a national parks pass, it will save you a ton of money. If you have any other questions about the Las Vegas area PM me. I've been in Las Vegas my whole life.

As mentioned above I suggest checking out the Pismo Freeride, it's a very cool event. Bring your riding gear. Somebody will have a ski that you can borrow.

For a rental car I suggest a SUV if you want more room. A Chevy Tahoe or something similar would be a nice car for a road trip.

oh gosh, dont spend all your time wandering around in the desert. None of those places are on the westcoast. I'd be looking at visiting La Jolla, Newport, and Santa Barbara.

or if you want to see what America is really all about, forget WF and come to Havasu on the 4th of July

Just a quick note - the Pismo ride might be delayed a week or 2 after finals this time (due to conflict with another event), so keep an eye on the Pismo Freeride forum before making plans that involve that part of your journey...

So much to see from Vegas to the west coast - enjoy!

Thanks for the advices so far guys. I think I'm gonna have a hard time convincing the lady on pismo free ride also haha. even thought it would be so nice :) What hotel are the ones to go for at finals? We are talking about renting a new big amercian car, like a charger or something. Would it be stupid to rent it for all 16 days or better to get a smaller car for the bigger cities, due to parking and so?
Jay, I'm counting on a meeting and at least 1 or 2 beers :)
Kohldaniel, thanks man :)

Bigger cars fit fine in our cities. You guys are going to have a great time here and I'm looking forward to those beers bro. Pismo is also amazingly beautiful and offers up some amazing food. Even if there wasn't an event there, I'd still check it out. Cruise down Highway 101 (stays next to the ocean) and check out all it has to offer. Lots of nice places to see all along there.
