I honestly dont know what to think, His Daddy has been reported to have died in one accident after another........ Publicity Stunt???????????????????????? who knows....... Do a search, you will see what I am talking about.

IF this is real, then my thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

does suck, i'm a little surprised they say alcohol is not a factor. Lets be real about that..

i do find it curious that the title says "Usher's Son" when in fact it's his ex-wife's foster son. no blood relation at all. Was a step son and now there is no real ties. He may still be involved with the kid but an interesting play on words.

Here's the Atlanta news report from yesterday.

Another unfortunate accident on the lake, thoughts to the family.

ON a side note not to take this off track, but Van Pugh park area at Lanier seems to be where a lot of accidents happen. There always seems to be un-experienced boaters / jet skiers there. I have camped there once, and put in there a few times, and decided I will never go back there. We already have to look out enough as it is on the water but its almost too dangerous to ride a stand up around there in my opinion with all the noobs. The DNR needs to step up its patrol in that area knowing how bad it is and educate some people.

You want the government (DNR) to fix this?

point taken. Just last weekend I got stopped for no registration numbers on my ski...

However, in GA you are not required to get a boating license (yes i know more government, but at least you get some training). They will rent any idiot a boat or ski and considering Lanier is a VERY busy lake there should be more patrol in problem areas. People will be stupid regardless and maybe more presence in the area may deter some of them...

This particular lake has claimed quite a few lives over the years and I find it very surprising they still have watercraft rental place still in business. Under experienced boaters darting across the lake in all different directions along with the combined jet skiers is a dangerous recipe for disaster.

Wow, that is horrible. People like that make me sick to my stomach... It's just stupidity.

I hope the kid recovers.

sounds like alcohol or lack of experience was the main factor in this. sad. When I used to live near Pismo and every holiday the dunes got such a bad rap, they rent quads out to people and those people were almost always the ones on the news for getting hurt and dieing. the whole rental thing is cool, but there has to be some type of saftey course even if its only a half hour to explain the way things should be done, bouys, direction of traffic flow on the lake, ect.... I was a little pissed having to take the saftey course when I moved to NJ, but now looking at it Im happy to know that everyone riding or boating in NJ should have sense of how to have a good time and not get hurt or kill someone.

Incidents like this are why the government thinks they can legislate safety. I see too many close calls that could have been prevented if people would just exercise some damn common sense. But, I guess people just don't care enough to pay attention. Pity.

Boater safety courses for everyone including passengers, and the certificates must be shown at the rental joints or when registering a PWC or Boat. Most weekend warriors are too lazy or don't want to be inconvenienced, so they will walk away and find something else to do. And I am not talking some half-a$$ safety courses that you can take on line. Something a couple nights a week for 3-4 weeks. It will weed out a TON of weekend warriors.
