[QUOT="ChadGnarly, post: 1591645, member: 7014"]We got the pump in today and it went really smooth. Virtually no shimming was needed, made the build go much faster.[/QUOTE]

I am installing my pump set up and it is not going that smooth... looks like I have to sand down some more for the shoe to sit nice and tight... I already sanded a good amount... hopefully tomorrow I will make further progress... So far a bit aggravated with this pump install... Did you install all in one shot or did you set the shoe in first and then complete...??? I am noticing it all needs to be fit at once in order for the intake grate to line up... So ready to finish this pump install... Getting annoyed over here... I'll get it though... !!!

Ive installed thre different Bot's pump shoes.

Sand the hull till the shoe fits easily. Then instal your pump and o ring setup that came with the hull . Get the pump shimmed perfect 100% so the driveshaft is dead center on the hole on the inside of the hull. I made sure it was centered to the three bolt holes actually. Then uninstall your pump and glue in the shoe. I use an sem two part epoxy. Dries hard and sandable. Reinstall the pump at the same time as the shoe so your sure your sure that they are both fitting together nice and leave till dry.

OEM RN shoe... I already mocked it up once... it appears that my intake worx grate will need a little dremel... no big deal really... just trying to get everything to seat nice and tight... that is my dilema that I am having... I even siliconed the pump shoe with the oring plate to have a nice tight surface to work with... I am sure it is rookie errors as this is my first shoe / pump install... but... getting aggravated over here... once this pump is set... I'll be good to go... ready to roll this beast over... !!!

This is what I was figuring as well... more sanding to have my shoe move around a little easier... it is amazing on how the slightest amount of movement makes a world of difference... This is the real technical part of this build... Also using Cold Fusion alignment tool... That is a sweet deal to get it perfect... !!!

I am thinking that once I sand the curved part of the hull where the shoe fits... it will lower the shoe which in turn will help line up with the grate and allow for a better pump install... I almost had it done today until I realized I needed more sanding, plus, I had no lunch and a super early breakfast... so I was getting grumpy... around 4:30 p.m... left the shop and said the heck with it... Try again tomorrow... !!!
