Vapor Honing

I snapped a quick photo last night of the 550SX cases I threw in my buddies vapor cabinet. If you haven’t heard of these, it’s basically a pressure washer and media blaster combined. It removes no material but super polishes the surface. I’ve been running this on all sorts of engines for years and it is awesome! Grease wipes away very easily and I haven’t seen a bit of corrosion on my flywheel cover after 1 season. Anyways I always love using this machine! Does anyone else own one of these?

I bought one and love it. The finish it leaves behind is so much nicer than dry blasting. I use it on all my carb rebuilds.

From VK website:
"The Vapor King lets you wet blast factory coatings off quickly and efficiently, in a single step, using a mix of water and abrasive."

You are still blasting with an abrasive so it would seem, you are still removing material similiar to dry blasting, just would depend on how aggressive the blasting media is and how long you use it.

I think i need one of these. Any idea of the cost? On their site you have to request a quote.
Quote = exspensive im sure.

I was looking around and found a smaller unit, not much bigger than the abrasive cabinet in my garage, for sale used. $11,000. It said it was $20,000 new.

Absolutely. Im sure there is a variety of media that could be used. I should be more specific and say that the way his machine is set up, removes virtually no material when using it properly.
