Vendor Wants Your Input

:highhorse:post the chick pics and we'll let you know if the advertising is working

The ad would say "So Cal Covers" "Only Cover Whats Important"
and a pick like this. Any opinions?

don't advertise. Use word of mouth. good customer service with the best prices is how you will win the game.

Our prices are great, our customer service is too. It is just taking us a while to get our name out there...

I figure that the more advertising we do, the more we will become a recognized brand.

Ya that first Pic would work - a couple couches/standups on beach covered and you all set. Guys need to see you stuff - stand up covers in Black( blue maybe) - the word of mouth will help - I have a new ski with stock cover when its toast you'll be the first I call. Your right though an advestisment somewhere would help - Show off the covered ski's - beach - babes - they'll sell.

you need to figure out how to get your website to pop in google at the top of the search query. I tried and it didn't come up. Only way it would come up is if I typed "socalcovers.com" but I tried, "jet ski cover", "pwc cover" and a couple others.

Also, I know you probably can't lower your prices, but OEM covers are the same price depending on the dealership you go to, atleast when it comes to superjets.

I am competing with really large cover companies that have been established for years when it comes to those google searches. The only way I am able to be seen on those pages is the ads at the top and side of the results page. But with those I pay a couple hundred a month and don't get great results.

As far as our pricing... We sell a different product (better in my opinion) than OEM covers and I have the pricing set so low that if I pay for shipping and give a 10% discount my profit drops to almost nothing. And thats fine as long as the company is growing and becoming well known. I just want to speed up this process if possible.

Numbers on websites are easy to manipulate, and very misleading unless you really know what you're looking at. Pageviews means more than hits or files, and visits and pages/visit mean more than the others.

I would bet that more people spend time going through Ride Magazine looking at the advertisers than seeing a banner ad on their website, but that's just me.

I agree,
i know alot of guys who read the mag, but only 1 or 2 that visit the site, and thats very infrequently

I have a small photo business and I know the hardest thing for me was advertising. It was so frustrating in time and money spent to get so little in return. Your business is much larger than mine but I feel the first thing you should do is brand your product (not too over the top. For example if i saw your cover driving by me on the way to the beach and I wanted one, I would have no idea where to get it -SOCALCOVERS.COM needs to be easy to see). Then develop a slogan, like your "cover whats important".

about your website, it looks like a template and it isn't bad, but it has to be better...

I dont think more print ads will make a big difference, models and that stuff wont give you a very good return if any on your money. The best they can do is drive traffic to your website, but then what? What I mean is why your cover? Why would I buy one? I was looking for a SJ cover the other day and ended up on your website, because I try to support venors on this site. I saw the price, that didnt hook me, the style didnt hook me, I didnt buy.... even though you probably have the best possible solution for me.

You dont want to be wordy, but you need to let us know right away why I should part with my hard earned dollars on your cover instead of kawi’s or someone else’s. "We sell only the finest products available and your satisfaction is our number one goal." Tell me more? It is a cruel fact that people dont care about it being a family business, it doesn’t matter where you are located, and they are probably to lazy and ADD to read more than the first few lines on your homepage.
I have the small business marketing bible around here somewhere.... I will look for it. All stuff you already know but it helps get your thoughts together.

Thanks for taking the time to tell me all this. This kind of feedback is exactly what I was looking for here. The title of that book would also be great.
