Versi-Plug Install -- Need advice

X-H2o members,

Have a versi-plug I bought here recently to install in the Superfreak, but the previous owner installed an X-metal scupper with a tube that has a funny I.D. of 2.167". The versi-plug was built for 2.025" I.D. tubes so it clearly does not fit appropriately. Anyone have a suggestion about fitment?

You bought a Superfreak dude? Will the screws in the versiplug extend far enough out to touch the inside of the tube? If so you could just fill the gap with silicone.

Technically the ski belongs to another guy I ride with.

It would be nice to use the original o-ring design of the versi-plug. The original idea was to install a shaved down pvc section with the right ID and epoxy it in...

Ha oh OK. I was going to say man, we better see a build thread or something.

Yeah I guess you could get bigger o-rings but your probably right, a pvc sleeve might be easier and cheaper.

I was trying to make it to the Dells but I have to be at a wedding. So soon after for sure. I'm sure a good number of us are going to ride at Chadmans lake a few times this summer.

I'm probably going to launch a couple times from 31st harbor this summer too for a lake sesh

hah I just ran into the same problem last week!

They installed pipe that was not 2 inch I.D. I found a piece of 2 inch I.D refrigeration copper pipe left over from work that afternoon and the outside diameter perfectly fit in the 2.167 I.D of the pipe. You would have to spend wayy too much time shaving down a piece of sch 40 to fit inside that other pvc. I used a center punch and marked the 4 screw holes from the versiplug and drilled them into the copper. Still have to 5200 it in. Yeah its copper and will corrode over time but so is the statue of liberty and that's still standing. Copper gutters, etc. It will last as long as I need this superjet hull...

I have some left over if you want it!! hahaha

Ill take a picture of it tomorrow so you can see. It sounds ghetto but it actually came out really nice and im sure it will work out fine

I would look for some 2" thin wall tubing, either stainless or aluminum. I believe 16 gauge is .065" wall thickness. Your difference in diameters between the versiplug and scupper tube would require a .071 wall thickness with 2" ID to fit tightly. If you can't find 2" ID .065 you could get 2" OD" .065 wall and have an exhaust place or something put it on a flaring die to expand it to your exact measurements.
