Other Versiplug Max.....For those running them, how do you like them in the SURF....?

I have read the threads and most are build threads, not much time tested opinions. For those that are running the Versi-plug Max how do you like it? How do you run them in the surf? Do you keep em open or do you plug em....? I know it will not dump as fast as a scupper but does it do a decent job or is it just too slow.....? Any info good or bad would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's a bit slower, but combine with a bilge pump works really well. The only issues I have are loose thing blocking up the smaller orifice. Also, oily sludge sticks to the ball, but it's not really an issue. I tried to back flush a bit of debris out into the hull from the rear...it was difficult because the ball pops in and seals off the hole really easily!

I like 'em, and they don't leak.

I've heard nothing but good things about them. I hear scuppers leak.

I just bought a hull that has one and I'm anxious to give it the full test. I'll be running a bilge pump as well.

I use a xmetal scupper, but I think either would work fine if plugged in surf. The only thing i would recommend would be to screen off the opening inside the hull. I picked up some aluminum window screen material and used a stainless hose clamp to clamp it to the 2" pipe going to the scupper. Nothing gets through the screen to stick open whatever valve you use.

You sure? I guess it would depend which way the hull was tilting whether or not it would seal if the boat was flipped. The ball is held into place with the force of water against it. I will say that I am very pleased with my versi plugs. Only issues is with small objected getting stuck in the hole and holding the ball open...

It will let air out when the ski is upside down just like a scupper will. It will not leak at all when the ski is upright, however. Can't say the same for some scuppers.

When it's immersed in water, the ball floats into the hole...it's circular, it don't know if it's upside down or not!
