Custom/Hybrid Vision hulls

Any inputs from people who have ridden a vision? I want to know how they ride. I liked the evo2 but I want something different than a rickter... I liked that the evo2 handled well for any type of riding. I could even see it being good for racing. That's what I'm after. I don't want some nose high riding flat water backflip ski.. I love superjet hulls and mine has seen better days. I'd like to do something new rather than get another yamaha hull. So doing my research

I've ridden both and love the Rickter so much more, it sucks they all look the same, but the FS/FR is the best handing lake cruising hull I've ever ridden!
If I didn't want a true freestyle hull my order of preference for a big wave cruiser would be FS2 evo, then a -4 carbon matrix (not a fan of the full length glass) and then a -2 or -5 superfreak

I rode one a few months ago. Steve does a great job on these hulls. In my opinion, they're more of a rec boat. Chasing boats, hitting the surf, hell Steve's big Ass flat water rolls it like no ones business. I don't know pricing, so I can't factor if it would be worth it over a rickter because its cheaper of what, but they truly are awesome rec/surf boats. Good guy to deal with too.

Cool thanks guys! Sounds like another great quality small time hull builder just as trinity. I talked the him about his matrix he builds. Sounds like a hell of a ski and a similar ride to the evo2. I haven't ridden any other rickter besides evo2.. It was hard to say how much I really liked it I suppose since the guy had his rrp pole set so short, way too short for me that made it an awkward ride but the hull seemed to feel good. I just really like the way visions look! My favorite so far. Super freaks look pretty sick too.. I was just unsure after reading that the vision is like 6 inches shorter than superjet and the pump is set back so far; afraid it would ride nose high and be one of those skis that don't plane out. I'm not a flat water kind of guy. I come from motocross. I love tearing up really rough water, going 50+mph my lake gets rough and lots of good big boats for wakes. All I'd ever do is ride surf if I lived on a coast but I don't :/ just looking for something that rides pretty similar to a superjet. The evo2 was close enough to that feel for me. I'd love to come test ride a vision with some of the east coast riders! Man I live in idaho.... Way far away haha

IMO, I don't like the Rickter footholds. They just take away from the with of the tray. A buddy in our riding group has an EVO so I did ride it back to back and to me , the Vision tray felt much wider and more comfortable.
Both hulls felt very agile , however, the Vision seem to carve harder and turn a little quicker.
The price of our glass hull is $4995 . It comes in the gelcoat color of your choice and fully turfed

I recieved my -4 vision in late may, with the -4 i have an option to run a short ride plate or run a longer ride plate to negate the -4 depending on how i want to ride, they make your plate to order. they also offer the vision in standard length too. the pump is moved back 2'' and so is the engine and the pump intake is wider so youll stay hooked up more at speed than a pre 08 super jet. i have a 01 Rn too, thats what i was riding. My Vision turns, carves and stays hooked up better than my Rn, its lighter and does not ride nose high. The qaulity is great and Jeff and Steve are great to work with, always there suprising you with updates and pictures of your build progess. sounds like you would want a standard lenght hull for what your trying to do. Give the Watercraft Factory a call they would br happy to answer your questions great guys. if you need a pics or other info pm me

forgot to say how mush more stable the Vision hull is than my 01 RN, my wife would be so much more happy if the RN was more stable like the Vision, she needs a standard legnth one too poor girl, the Vision has nice rails love em

I've ridden a bunch of diff hulls, the evo2 is a really really nice hull, if I had an endless pocket.. I'd most likely go that route but, I don't like the footholds either. You can't beat WCF holds, having owned my vision for over a year now and coming from a superjet the vision gives you more stability and its lighter. IMO The Fit, price and finish you get on the Vision you will not be able to find a better deal on the market today. You can take all your old superjet stuff and swap in without any trouble(not saying you have to). I run the full length though most guys are running -4?. I'm 6'1" I liked the idea of sticking to the same length or -1 of the stock SJ. You do get some water to the face my only complaint. That and the nose visually takes some getting use to but, it will grow on you. The hull is still holding strong. Steve is a great guy too and a pleasure to do business with.

I had a question too, you guys talk about how well it hooks up and stays hooked up and carves and is great for lake cruising and stuff. But does still have a Freestyle aspect as well because im looking for a best of both worlds in a hill and I was wondering if this hull is what I was looking for?

Hey Bud, I own a Vision. I ride with long ride plate to keep the nose down. I also ride mostly surf. The Vision rides completely different with short and long ride plates as probably any other ski. Before the Vision, I had 2010 SJ. I also have in my garage a 04 SJ and 2012 Rickter Evo FS2 EVO1. These are the skis I can give a very good comparing since I have ridden them not just once in a lake or short demo sesh.. I have ridden them in choppy and rough surf and flat as well.
The Vision has more pop than the Rickter due to the more rockered nose. Tray is much wider, however if you run buildin FH on the Rickter, it might be pretty much same width. It is the adjustable FH on the Rickter that make the tray as tight as a SJ. I prefer old style buildin FH all day over the adjustable ones. I would never compromise the width of the tray so I can have adjustable footholds that I will never adjust anyways..
Vision carves a lot more than the Rickter. Rickter slides more like the pre 08 SJ, the Vision carves more like the post 08 SJ. I personally like and feel more comfortable when not sliding too much. Rickter is more sensitive on turning, that could be due to the shorter ride plate or different position on the steering cable pivots. Rickter rides with lower nose than the Vision. Rickter has higher gunwales, I like the lower profile on the Vision better. Vision tray has very low center of gravity, therefore the pump makes a little bump on the rear side of the tray. I prefer if the tray was flat as on the Rickter, specially for surf riding when your rear foot is moving around. Vision is very stable ski on turns, therefore much easier to handle and ride than any superjet with or without sponsons. The Vision has softer feeling (that's my personal experience) with more cushion than the Rickter. I feel safer to pancake the Vision than when I'm pancaking the Rickter, and I have pancaked them both, hard :).. Both skis are a lot more fun to ride than a superjet, but they are also different between each other.

at work, not sure if i know how to post picks so that coiuld take some time for me to do or try, i could msg you some to a phone number if you have a smart phone or email it. i got the Vision looking for an alround hull, i was riding totally free ride lakes and rivers, no ocean, crusing or all out with a dry pipe on an Rn, kind of boring really, now with the -4 its opened up alot more to me freestyle wise. i cant really do any tricks yet, but iam working on it. i rode yesterday jumping wake board boat wakes with my freind who is on my onld 96 RN with a 701 and type 4 dry pipe. let me tell iam smoking his behind, iam goiung higher, father and with more style, landing better and i could do a flip if new how, the eqipment is there, the Visions way better

Sounds perfect then! I like quick steering. I run my steering cable all the way out on the turn plate and have the nozzle relocation bracket so it's super sensitive. I agree, those rickter foot holds stick out and get in the way and I didnt like the feel of them on my feet either. I have kickers currently but my favorite so far are the Waterdawg holds. Trinity will install any foothold you chose. This how visions work as well? Because I'd like to get one with Waterdawg holds. Also wanted to run an xmetal handle pole with a round nose drop bracket. Will this set up work on a vision? I want to be different and not run an rrp plus, I have a nice composite rn chin pad already an xmetal pole will be 1/3 of the price of the rrp
