Other Viton and Tygon Fuel and Primer lines anyone?

I was talking to one of my Suppliers today about a quote on bulk Tygon fuel lines and came across the subject of 15% ethanol and what it may do to our fuel lines. He suggested I try some of their Viton fuel lines so I submitted a RFQ today for Viton fuel and primer lines.

I know the Viton is going to be considerably more money but it may be worth it if they last several seasons instead of one or two.

Either way, I plan to stock Tygon very shortly and was wondering if any of you would ever consider the Viton? I know OEM is the best but it isn't always the easiest to find in longer lengths.

one day i left my hood on after a ride and didnt notice it till a few days later. all my tygon lines (clear blue) where milky white on the inside. they cleared up after the hood stayed off and i let it dry out. whats up with that? do they absorb moisture?

im curious what the viton lines will go for, i hear bad things about tygon not lasting long but clear lines are helpfull

X2 Same thing happened to me, Tygon lines and they turn milky white. Also had a needle and seat get stuck, took it apart and found this gooey jelly substance had the needle stuck open. Very leery as to wether tygon is worth the money.

My tygon lines did that once but they went back to normal on their own and it never caused any type of problem. Nothing in my filters or anything. Not sure what caused it but I would imagine if it was moisture it would have happened more than once by now. I am going on 5 seasons with the same lines now and they are still holding up fine.

That being said, I believe tygon only warranties their 4040 line for fuels below 10% ethanol by volume.

Pricing on the viton? I wont buy Urethane or what is sold as Tygon. Tygon has a huge range of properties, some ok, some good, some great. They even make a maring grade coast guard approved UV stable tubing with a Tygon inner liner now, light grey outer liner.

I have had the same experience with Tygon discoloring and hardening which is why I'm still looking. I recently swapped my ski over to all OEM lines but still need to replace all the lines on my wifes ski. I should have pricing on the Viton by the end of today. I'm expecring it to be 7-8 times the price of Tygon and solid black in color.

never seen any Tygon lines that were blue. Only Yellow. I ran them for a few years, not the greatest. They did harden up just like all the others out there. Maybe the VITON lines are better.

What were the colored fuel lines being sold by fuelines.biz made from? I thought that was Tygon? Not to say it wasn't a lower grade or possibly even altered by the coloration process to a lesser grade.

Whatever the stuff I got from JSS is, i want more of it. It was shiny black and just as flexible now as when it was it was installed. He said it was Tygon and that he no longer had a source for it. He was working on placing a very large order with his company logo printed on it even but it still hasn't happened yet.

The Tygon i'm pricing is clear and the Viton is a dull black.

I got the fuel lin bix crap last year, I have already replaced sections that had hardened up by mid summer last year (Was only on the ski about 2-3 months at this point), the sections I did not replace just about need to be replaced now. JUNK!

I was told that the oem is tygon and have some that came from motion pro. its still soft like when new except near the filter, for some reason its very rigid there. the yellow is tygon also. anything else is not tygon, I have some of the colored lines and it is rigid as the old stuff I throw away.

get with motion pro and you can get the grey tygon.

Motion pro has very high pricing and is only available in shorter lengths. I am looking at buying bulk in larger quantities where it can be cut to any length.

I have found this to last longer than tygon less shrinkage 5187K62 PVC tubing McMaster Carr.

I would not have thought that pvc would stand up to 10% Ethanol. How flexiible is it and how easy is it to get on the fittings?

Installs the same as Tygon, you can compare the durometer on McMasters web site. I use 3/16" ID for a proper fit.

Is there no place to get "clear fuel" in your area? What about the effects of the fuel on your carbs?.... ive had good luck with polyurathane fuel line. I have also had that mcmaster carr yellow tygon go all milky on me but it cleared up. mark44 is right on with recomending the 3/16" tygon for a good fit.

What do you mean by "clear" fuel? Ethanol free? If so, no, not at a source i've discovered anyway, and even if it was available, without testing at the pump, there is no guarantee that it's ethanol free as advertised. Very poor regulation on such things apparently.

Besides, such tactics of sourcing out ethanol free fuels only represent clinging to ones past. Change is inevitable and success doesn't necessarily come to all that change but rather to those that change at the correct time and in the correct fashion. I like to be ahead of the curve. :bigok:

i get all my fuel from northwest solvents here in Eugene, OR they make the stuff in house and sell a clear 92 octane (ethanol free) its a little more than premium but worth it to me 92 clear and leaded 110 mix is all i run in my skis. my lawn mower got all gummed up after storing it for winter with the blend fuel. Ive used the clear in it for a couple seasons and have not had an issue after storing for a couple months.
look around im sure someone makes/sells the stuff in your area.
