I haven't installed the watercraftwerks instake manifold yet. But the difference between the watercraftwerks manifold and the oem 550 intake manifold is that with the appropriate watercraftwerks aftermarket manifold for your engine (JS) you can use a SBN 44 carb instead of the Keihin carb.

I have the SBN 44 carb on my wife's '88 X2- 650, her '94 Superjet, and my '95 FX-1 and, for me at least, the SBN 44 is much easier to work on than the stock Kawasaki Keihin carb.

There is a cheaper way to install an SBN 44 by using your stock 550JS intake manifold and a spacer. Ask @hornedogg79 how to do that and how the SBN performs on the Kawasaki 550JS engine:

Not much. I work on them and have a good collection of parts. Get 3 double lip oem seals from nasty nic on ebay. Intake spacer or new pjs intake to use an SBN 44 carb. Gaskets, sealant.... See what degree flywheel you have (21,25,or28) and adjust stator accordingly to make it 25. One mm = one degree roughly. If flywheel isn't stamped it's a 21) Half pipe exhaust is best but pricey. Use the 85+ stock "breadbox" if you want to save $. It's a good design. Lots of good resources and OG mechanics in the kaw 550 fb group.

Good info. Thanks. As soon as i finish up sanding primer then paint and gelcoat ill be on alot more trying get the motor to have a little more zing.

Went to the shop today to finish the rest of the sanding with some 320 grit to really polish the primer i over sprayed and With help of painter with a good gun and 10 years experience i had him paint the handle pole today, super stoked on the color and super excited to be rounding the corner on finishing the body work. Ill be getting things powder coated like parts of pump and having a buddy print a sweet orange pump cone. I see people powder coat engine parts like the cylinder, cylinder head and block but im curious as to if its going to cause and sealing surface issues because of the heat needed to apply powder coat. If anyone has a couple ideas they can pich on powder coating engine parts id be appreciative. All in all, im beyond happy knowing i get to work on engine/driveline stuff next. Just need to get this thing painted next weekend.

All in all, could have done a better job on prep and a huge lesson on body work as a beginner. Here it is, say hello to The General Lee! Simple fact is its hard, but i saw a vision and went for it. Ill be resealing the midshaft and getting that mounted next and probably ordering a prop, fairly certain its stock. Since ill have to slim down and get somewhat in shape again so i have a chance to compete i think id be comfortable around 180-185lbs i was reading somewhere that my prop pitch should be around 16 to 15.5. Anyone have any suggestions as to what kind of prop and what pitch i should run?
