tonight and took my flywheel cover off and noticed that my flywheel
and bendix were A littel rusty, as it turns out the gasket on the cover
was pinched. what possible problems am I facing from this if any?

im not sure what (a little rusty) is.. but.. clean it the best you can.. WD40 everything.. slap it back together with a new gasket.. cross your fingers !

I have had some real ugly stators/flywheels that worked just fine !

Use marine grease on the gasket, on the wire grommet, and on the starter, and bolt it back together.

clean out the bendix really good. Let it soak in WD. It will probably work as good as new and like matt said don't put the cover on dry cuz water will get in there. Same goes with your electrical box.

What he said. I've learned about both of these problems the hard way.
