Water in fuel tank

Ive been following an issue over the past couple of months. I find that while riding water builds up in my fuel filter (oem filter). So there must be water in my tank.

I notice the effect on my engines performance, i take it to shore right away and inspect the filter. I drain the filter completely, fire the ski back up and its good for a while but the issue repeats.

Two months ago i emptied my tank completely, i did not check for water at that time. So any water in there now has accumulated in the past 2 months.

I havent emptied my tank yet to find out how much water is in there now. But my question is, what are the entry points for water into the tank. I've checked the threads and seal on my filler cap, the vent tube and decanter and all are intact, am i missing something? Is it normal for water to accumulate in the tank over time?

Yes routed up the pole, basically stock installation for the vent tube.

Is the height up the pole a real issue. Barely any water builds up in the decanter and i check it regularly.

Usually it comes in through the vent, but if your water separator is not full that is probably not it. How is your gas cap, is the o-ring good? Do you hear a whoosh when opening the cap?

I have a blowsion billet gas cap, which probably doesn't make a difference. When un screwing the cap i get the usual pressure release which is stronger after the ski sits in the sun for a while, all of which is normal.

When the ski is upside-down, it can let water into the tank. If you are really abusive on a ski, it might not work right. I just have my vent zip tied to a tank strap. It's in the middle of the ski so it can't ever be submerged.
