Super Jet water risatant hood intake

ok here is my idea and i have already searched the forums didnt see anything similar .. to keep water from entering the hull is there any pros or cons to possibly taking some outerwears(for the air filters) and cutting them to fit into all the intake areas on the hood and glueing them into place ????seems like that would be a easy and significant way to cut down on water entering the hull but still alow air ! has anyone done this yet or anything similar ?

The best way to keep water from entering the ski is to make sure you have a good OEM hood seal and a good hood latch or strap.
That makes all the difference.

If that is done properly, the ski can be upside down for half a minute without much water getting in.

Its a good idea, but not new. Ross Champion did that to one of his skis in the past. He said it worked well. Personally IMO I'm with Matt, If your ski has a good hood seal and hood straps you will get very little water intrusion and the little that does get in your aftermarket bilge will easily handle.

thats not true, mine flipped and i flew pretty far. already worn out from riding it took me a few to get to it and there was hardly any water in it. oem hood seal, stock hood. no other mods. my pumps had the water out in under 10 seconds. i didnt time it but i have had them run way longer after one sub.

I have heard of those skinz too but I'm not gonna go about restricting my motor. If your hood vent tubes travel to to the bottom of the hull then there is no way for water to fill it up when it is flipped over, its physics.

unless your hood seal leaks

if your midshaft and hood have a good seal and you done have a scupper it doesnt matter if the hood vent tubes go to the bottom. if no air can escape then no water can come in. i personally know my ski could sit upside down for a long time with very little water gain.
