waterbox selection

If you still have the sn long exhaust tube and through hull tube than I would just go with the SN FP waterbox...everything will line up...the rn waterbox outlet is bigger than the sn and would need some massaging to get the long exhaust hose to fit on.

Plus I think the outlet angles up a bit on the RN WB, not sure if that would cause any clearence issuse...I am sure it could and has be done but I am fan of simple solutions especially if the performance isn't going to make any/much of a difference...just my 2 cents...

I did go with the FP waterbox. Supposedly, the tone is better but we'll see.

Who gives a crap about tone? :Flush: lol
Its about performance and weight savings.

The FPP SN waterbox is prolly about 4 lbs. lighter than the OEM RN box. Thats what I run in my RN.

As far as the tone goes, the FPP SN box has a great tone and sounds better than the OEM RN box. You will like it.

Is the FPP SN waterbox better or the same, performance and weight wise than the FPP RN waterbox? Does the smaller diametre inlet and outlet make any difference? Do you use the SN straps?

I can confirm a 4lb weight savings from SN stock waterbox to SN FP waterbox. The inner pipe diameters of the FP waterbox are slightly smaller than stock even which I think is odd. However, the FP waterbox is a straight through design with no baffles. I couldn't imagine a company like FP would make anything that isn't better than stock though. Just testing it in my garage, it doesn't sound that much louder.

I have a TDR waterbox for my SN and that thing always sounded nice and "throaty" Although its got a cylinder shape to it and mounting it is somewhat of a PITA with the fuel tank next to it. Would wraping it in some hydroturf be OK? That way if it touches the fuel tank by chance it wont melt it...

We are currently working on a solution for the Waterbox/Tank problem also with the angles how the exhaust hoses attach....skisolutions.com

I did not want to wrap the box but had to squeeze padding inbetween waterbox and tank

Yes and no.
It all depends on your setup.

Since my pipe is modified by X-Scream I had to get creative on the elbow and the other end of the waterbox has an X-metal T welded on for the front exhaust.

For the pipe to waterbox I used a section of a stock RN hose. The other end of the waterbox has the stock SN long hose on it.
The stock SN hoses will stretch and with enough lubricant, will slide onto the RN waterbox.

My b pipe is TS modiefied too and I have the little rubber elbow already so all i need is a RN box then...

whats the sound like ? And weight is a lot less ??

I am currently running a Riva old schools it looks like a big trash can basicaly

The sound is nice enough not to give you a headache or piss off the locals (dual exhaust on mine). The RN box is much lighter than the SN fiberglass junk plus it doesn't explode.
I tried a TDR before and had to dump it after a few minutes of riding.
My head was throbbing, couldn't hear anything and the normally friendly locals weren't so friendly any more.
