Waveblasters?

Location

If this site is all about SUs, why are there so many threads about waveblasters? I have seen people get blasted for having a sitdown/couch, but waveblasters are accepted? I'm new to this, but can someone fill me in? Thanks

The blaster is neither a sit down nor a standup. It resides in the Kawi X2 realm. You have to stand to ride it for the seats are really not functional.

The hull is very similar to the Superjet. It uses almost all the same engine and driveline parts as a SJ and it's lighter than an SXR. It's a very good freeride ski, that is ridden similarly to a stand up. it doesn't need to be ridden at higher speeds to get air off of a wave like most other sitdowns. That is why it's accepted here.

It's a couch. You can tell by the seat. Just a light one.

It gets acceptance because it has a much larger learning curve than a traditional couch. You are not a passive participant while riding it. It requires commitment.

It's still a couch though.

Is it still a couch if you take the seat off and absolutely refuse to have one on?

Just look at what they can do with the right rider on:

I have 3 real couch a gp1200, gpr800, 1100sts I ride all day when we go out no prob. I just got a blaster my self and after a few hrs of riding it im beat, so how relaxing is this couch after all. I love my blaster and the fact that most b1 owners have them because they want too not because its cool. I say if ppl want to disss on blasters than they should post some video of how they ride.
ITS NOT THE RIDE, ITS HOW YOU RIDE IT. write that down.

standup(blasters and x2 included) ride different from a sitdown. diff riding styles. like comparing lowriders to streetracers. although lately we have seen some crazy bastards rolling the big 4stroke yami and some other guys ripping bigger skis. still at most ridespots the couches are zooming around and not really getting the same use of the wave. you just sit there and think "If you would just trade that for a blaster you would never look back". they just dont get it. and most of em you can't convince otherwise. I really like the guys that think that going wide open in a straight line on their rxp is a skill no one else has mastered. I wish they would try that :):):):) on my sj!

yes 80mph is a little hairy, no doubt. but not really hard to do. for almost anybody. especially in the flat water we have here. lol

Hence their BAD Rep.
You find tools doing 60 MPH plus at the lake and doing "donuts" and the like....I know not every couch rider acts that way but the ones that do pretty much ruins it for everyone else.

The thing that really gets to me is when we are cruising the lake or the Delta looking for Yacht's wake, and after like 20 minutes we finally see one coming with a decent wake, out of nowhere comes this speeding fool that see us jumping it and also want to be part of it.

They can't seem to understand that launching off a wake with a 300lb ski is way different than with an 800lb ski.....

And so we have to let go of the wake for safety's' sake......

Sorry for the thread jack....

prob cause its a seadoo. why don't you be the first to freeride one? be a trailblazer.

I've been freeriding the HX off and on since 98. I took some weight off, and it's a lot of fun. Not a trick ski, but it jumps in the surf really well.

I'd rather ride a 'couch' than play with pole! But hey, that's just me. :lmao:

For anyone who calls me a couch rider, I simply call them a pole smoker. LOL
