is there anyway to bring this piece back to life? It a rubber/plastic type material that is sun damaged.

I had this same problem. Use a heat gun on its lightest setting, hovering over the area. If you get too close it will melt the plastic and make it bubble. If you keep the heat far enough away and take your time you can see a big improvement.

We havent had much luck with heat guns on the nose pieces.
